ND would move Olympic sports to the Big East.
I think the idea is ND would schedule 3 games a year against the SEC and 4 games a year against the expanded Big Ten. Then play Standord,Navy and 3 MAC CUSA type games

Why would the SEC do this?
ND would NEVER agree to play football in the SEC. They'd lose 5 games a year.
Like LSU hired Kelly away from Notre Dame and he still can't win a championship there.

ND isn't looking to join a conference in football. They want to join as a partial member and just a scheduling agreement in football. Since the SEC doesn't do partial memberships, I don't see any deal being made.
We already have a bunch of SEC teams signing deals with them. The difference here would be that we could work the calendar to both parties' advantage. Imagine replacing one of those cupcake games so many SEC schools play the Saturday before Thanksgiving with a game against Notre Dame. Combine that with two decent conference games, and you've got coverage for what is otherwise an embarrassingly weak slate of games. ND has a problem in that they can only schedule the Big Ten teams they traditionally play early in the season (Big Ten doesn't allow non-conference games once conference play starts, which is why their September TV schedule sucks arse even more than it does later in the year).
I agree that there is no way I'd take in Notre Dame as a partial member. But, if they park their other sports elsewhere, a scheduling agreement wouldn't be a terrible idea. Unlike the ACC, I wouldn't offer them a dime, just the opportunity to play us like any other non-conference opponent. The only twist would be working together on the schedule.

That would certainly seem beneficial for both parties. I imagine that ND would also be looking for advocation on their behalf as well.

You guys keep thinking geographically.
Conference commissioners aren't thinking like that at all.
They are trying to talk to teams who will make the conference money regardless of location.
The South Bend market will get you in Indianapolis, Detroit, Chicago.
Prime example look at the Big Ten and ACC.
They have teams not even close to the geographical region.
It's about$$$$$$$ not location.

I doubt it. Money talks.
Notre Dame absolutely has to make a move soon. Not to join a conference but something that gives them more exposure. They are quickly losing relevance. They don't have the following that they had even 10 years ago. Their TV numbers are down and they haven't won a championship since 1988.

ND is not looking to join the SEC. They are only looking for a scheduling agreement. I have no problem with that.
But you are right on one point. There is not a single conference in the US that wouldn't take Notre Dame as a full member in the blink of an eye.
Plus, geographically, although ND is not in the South, it is much closer to SEC schools than Texas is.
Hell, South Bend, IN is closer to Oxford than Austin, TX is to Oxford.

Rural indiana and most of their t-shirt fans are just as redneck as SEC fans
The issue here is not whether rural Indiana t-shirt fans are rednecks... It is how many rural Indiana redneck t-shirt fans are ND fans.
And the answer is not very many. They are mostly Indiana and Purdue fans.
In state... the ND fans are mostly the working class industrial Catholics who live in northern Indiana and Indianapolis.
While there are some ND "football only" fans in Indiana... probably more than any other place... there is a " completely hate ND" faction in the state... mostly made up of Purdue fans.

Alabama and Indiana are sister states just like Maine and Louisiana
it’s actually true for the first comparison

Nothing southern about Lexington KY or Columbia Mizzou but they are in the conference.
Why because of tv markets.

I dont think ND would join SEC...but I could see some sort of OOC agreement where ND has 3-5 SEC teams on schedule

Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua said only Power 4 commissioner he's talked w/since Sunday was SEC's Greg Sankey ??
I hope that was just because he didn’t check the caller ID.
I have news for Notre Dame, Sankey pushed Alabama to be in over Notre Dame the same as the ACC pushed Miami.
They have made their bed. They can lay in it. The bigger conferences are getting more powerful. Join or suck it.

And Sankey should be thrown out head first into the street if that is agreed upon.

ND is not going to join any conference, imo. What Finebaum said about ND is correct. They are not the draw they think they are and don't have the power they used to have.
With these big conferences now ND is looking for scheduling arrangements amongst P4 schools. I personally don't think they are going to leave their arrangement with the ACC anytime soon. They both need each other.
To get more eyeballs on the TV sets the ACC and Big ten would like them. I don't know they move the viewing meter that much for the SEC.
