Mark Richt was a good coach and and GREAT man: The proverbial 10 win/year coach, but TBH to be an annual CFP contender means going undefeated or appear to be that ONE elite that just nearly missed going undefeated. He was not that coach. His teams could occasionally sneak into a playoff contention, but it was a matter of the stars aligning. He just didn't know how to build ELITE. That's what we got with Kirby. He learned it from 9 years with Saban who is the GOAT. In short, there's a HUGE difference between being an annual contender and perennially elite, and only a few coaches can achieve that no matter the resources available to them. (See Jimbo)

Also pretty crazy, you have to go back to 1998 to find someone who is not one of those five teams.

Well, we’re in the present and not the past so it’s not really that crazy since we weren’t the big dogs then.

No one qualifies any other coach like this. I guess they were great coaches and just good (or bad) men.
Kirby? Great coach. Terrible human being?
JFC, with the Richt acolytes. It's a miracle that the administration wasn't tarred and feathered when they fired him.
Bring on the down votes. I'm accustomed to them, on this.

Even crazier, that's the only one in the East since 2008.

When was Tennessee’s golden time?

Im sure there were some in our fan base that would have tarred and feathered the administration.
I remember a portion of our posters raising hell during/after Kirby’s first season.

I won’t recognize them as Big Dawg unless they repeat this year. They’ve been consistently good for 2 decades now and broke through last year. They still haven’t accomplished what LSU or Florida has this millennia. If they repeat this year I will concede. It’s certainly impressive seeing what Kirby has built as much as it pains me I give credit where it’s due.

When did UF and LSU go back to back?

lol the only way to be a top program is winning back to back championships?

I would say going back to back after never winning anything while your rivals won multiple championships would for sure cement y’all as big dawg. Wouldn’t really need to be back to back specifically just winning another one in a short time frame would do it. LSU and Florida have both accomplished that this millennia.

Yeah 2005 because of Katrina LSU had its campus turned into a triage center, players relocated around campus, it’s home game with ASU moved out to Arizona and we’re forced to play 11 straight weeks…it was amazing they even made the SECCG that year…

Winning multiple in a short span I’d say. Doesn’t necessarily have to be back to back I was just referring to this year since y’all are in the driver’s seat. Man UGA fans are still an easy bunch to rattle lol

This is not too far fetched.
After 2005, Florida Dominatated by the Bama Dynasty.
