Look man, the only folks paying attention to Women's Basketball are South Carolina, LSU, and Texas.

Class is not a big thing by anyone in SPORTS.

Women's sports are unwatchable for the most part.

The OP is full of beans, but I covered sports for years as per my screen name and Pat Summitt was one of the most impressive individuals I ever encountered. Being around her was like being around someone on the level of Coach Bryant as far as her aura and presence, and she was a damn good coach too. I had the opportunity to, in separate tournaments, sit behind the North Carolina bench when Dean Smith was coaching and UT when she was coaching, and they were master classes in how you do it.

the game has changed so much from Summits time
it has gotten way more physical and the officiating hasn't caught up to today's game

I’m going to try to offer a serious opinion, although I don’t think this thread is really looking for a serious opinion.
I covered tons of college and high school women’s and girls’ basketball as a sports writer for more than two decades.
I would rather have root canal without anesthesia while having needles driven under my nails than watch bad women’s or girls” basketball if I wasn’t getting paid to do it (or maybe even if I was).
Back 30-odd years ago, which is the era I’m talking about, when you got to the absolute highest echelon of competition, it was watchable because they did their own thing, played and executed pretty much an old-school fundamental style that was refreshing, and didn’t try to play like men.
I struggle to watch the product today, although I appreciate Clark’s excellence, because they’re all trying to play like men.
And they can’t.

InkStainedWretch...were you ever present when Pat gave one of her players (or refs!) one of her famous "Death Glares"? My cousin played at MTSU and loved telling one and all about being intimidated around Coach Summitt, who wasn't even HER coach!

Yeah, I saw that stare … anyone on the receiving end of that had to feel it in their innards, hard.

I said she was a class act stupid.

I thought it was pretty cool how Pat and Pearl hit it off and supported one another at games. I remember Pearl painting himself orange and Pat wearing an old cheerleader outfit.

Most of your post was ripping other coaches. And saying someone has “class” can be a way of turning someone into a marble statue rather than a flesh and blood human being.
Pat was a class act but she also was a she-wolf who’d rip your esophagus out with her teeth, metaphorically of course, if her team was playing you. She came to kill you, like all great coaches should.
