Then why did you say that 2004 Auburn was better than 2009 Bama?
Way to fail.
Might want to go back through the posts because I didn't say that.

straight up, i don't even know how it sounded offensive. i was kinda trying to ask you what you meant. it sounded like you'd rather there NOT be a super-power at the #1 slot all year than to have one there looming for whoever makes it to slot #2 for the big game.
Ok...gotcha! And that is what I thought you meant. I kinda like the parody AND I also like the fact that when you have multiple teams w/ a shot at the NC game and people get snubbed.....it brings us closer to a playoff.

You're right, my bad. Maybe you should inform your fellow barner posters of the same thing you told me, then.

i hate agreeing with you. right now, if we were to play auburn, we'd lose.
Trust me, I hate saying it as bad as you hate agreeing with it...
We just don't look very good. The Ole Miss game shook my confidence in the team worse than the South Carolina game did.
I've been saying since the third game of the year that the conference as whole looks below par...Auburn is the only team that I'd say looks like they have the ability to exploit everyone else's weakness, and simultaneously cover up their own.

the one thing i've been hanging my hat on for hope's sake is that Saban will have had an entire season to watch Newton and auburn. that's gotta stand for something!
Knowing its comin' and stopping it are two wildly different things though...as Newton has shown us in game after game.

the reason i fricking hate that this is true, is that IF a coach decides to build a team around a player (like chizik has)... then they can REALLY go far.
of course, when they lose Newton, they're going to be lost in the fricking woods unless they find an identical replacement.

That game confused me. I couldn't tell if Bama's defense finally decided to step up, or if Ole Miss' offense was just that bad that day. On one hand, their offense had been putting up some pretty good numbers on other teams. On the other, they were missing a lot of open receivers.
Can't tell if that's a credit to our defense, or just a bad offensive game.

Anyone else feel the same?
Agreed about it being a down year, and I felt the same way about 2007, but it doesn't really make LSU's/whoever wins this year's title any less special.

AU is proving to be one of the top teams in the nation. Just because UT, UGA, and UF are sucking doesnt mean teh SEC is down. That is excuse making by those fans. THis is teh same BS said in 2004. Must bea down year a handful of teams are not having good years...garbage.
Don't kid yourself. I'm not trying to take away from Auburn, but there are down years. I'm not arguing that 2004 was a down year, but this year definitely is in college football. As far as the SEC, the East is definitely down.

2002 - Ohio State (14-0) - Beat 7 teams by 1 touchdown or less luckiest unbeaten I've seen
2003 - LSU (13-1) - Lost to Florida
2004 - USC (13-0) - Beat 5 teams by 1 touchdown or less
2005 - Texas (13-0) - Beat 2 teams by 1 touchdown or less
2006 - Florida (13-1) - Lost to Auburn
2007 - LSU (12-2) - Lost to Arkansas and Kentucky luckiest champion I've seen
2008 - Florida (13-1) - Lost to Ole Miss
2009 - Alabama (14-0) - Beat 2 teams by 1 touchdown or less, beat the crap out of a 13-1 Florida team, and a 13-1 Texas team.

i really appreciate you stereotyping me!

to be fair, i can definitely be objective about my team. i think honesty and being real as a fan is literally the best thing for a program.... and of course, being hopeful when you don't have to be.

Would you disagree though? I'm not sure who will win the title, but I haven't seen anyone that looks as good as the 2009 Tide, 2008 Gators, 2005 Longhorns, 2004 Trojans, etc.

Damn you......you can't give us an 07 OR 03 plug?

Most of the champs of the BCS era seem like really good teams. The ones that seem a little below those teams are the 2002 Buckeyes and 2007 Tigers.

Hell, 2004 Auburn was a more "dominant" team than 2009 bammer
Auburn beat 3 teams by a score or less, including LSU by 1 point and a 6-6 Bama team.
Only 2 teams were within one score of Bama. Period.

Maybe you skipped watching USC or Texas
I've already addressed USC. Their NC run in 2004 included several wins by a touchdown or less. Their 2005 season ended with a loss to Texas.
The 2005 Texas Longhorns were a dominant team, but when comparing the level of competition between the 2009 Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns of 2005 - I say it's a push at best. Both teams beat 2 teams by a touchdown or less. Texas scored more points on the year, but played inferior teams. Bama beat the #1 and #2 ranked teams in back to back games by more than two touchdowns each.
