The guy has been elected by the people of that area for 5 consecutive 6 year terms. I mean, they know who he is and how he prosecutes at this point or they aren't paying attention to his 26+ year career as their DA. Either way, they aren't in a position to complain.
People act so outraged about this DA's comment and one poster on here said he may lose his job over this.....Well, what has his illustrious history as a DA been for damn near 3 decades? He won the most recent election unchallenged - so one would think he's got the trust of his people, right?

Yes I do I've lived there the majority of my life. Pot is 100% illegal there. No medical marijauna either. Nobody gets tickets or citatiins except Nick Marshall.

You lived there for the majority of your life and don't know the laws?
Can you tell this cop he's a liar for giving out citations?

We still make arrests, but most of them, if the person has a driver’s license and is a local resident, we will just write them a citation to magistrate court and let them go,”

Abdullah said he recalls pulling over someone on a traffic violation and noticing a marijuana cigarette rolled up in the passenger seat. After reading the driver his rights, Abdullah said he was given permission to search the vehicle.
After not finding any other illegal substances, and after the driver admitted the cigarette was his, Abdullah said he had enough to make a judgment call.
“So I just wrote him a ticket and said, ‘I’ll see you in court,’” he said.

That's one county and not where he was stopped. Georgia has some of the harshest marijauna laws in the country, obviously you kniw nothing about it.

And Gus just suspended him for the first half whcih started the JJ for Heisman stuff.

If you are indeeed from Funroe then you know that Monroe PD could have very easily fricked the whole arrest up just because they are Monroe PD.

That's one county
quote:hmmm, seems like each county has their own way to handle less than an ounce of weed, huh?
As for Richmond County, Meagher said it’s ultimately up to the courts to decide how the law is enforced. “We go to them and ask them, ‘Can’t we just write a ticket and if they have ID, send them to magistrate court or send them to state court and just let them go?’” he said. “For a while, the courts did not want us to do that. They wanted them committed that way there was due process. But now, some of it has to do with overcrowding of the jails.” But until Georgia passes legislation of its own, Meagher said he doesn’t see the problem going away anytime soon.

The punishment already established by team does exactly what Saban said it would do - educate and alter behavior. The weekly urine tests, the counseling, and ride alongs, the education, and the indefinite suspension were not known to public until now yet all we heard was how they weren't being punished.

I went to jail for having a screen with resin on it and got charged with DUI from pot and charged with possession.
I had no pot on me.
Also several of my friends were arrested with less than a gram in Georgia and were not given a citation.
