Only 8 teams remain:

Auburn vs. Nevada
Illinois St. vs. Dayton
New Mexico vs. St. Joseph’s
Tulsa vs. Wichita St.

Auburn has beaten South Alabama and Seattle University to advance this far.

Will Auburn show up? Or are the players already looking at the portal and thinking about where they will play next season?

Not a very awe inspiring group of names there.

They really should call it something other than the Elite 8. Maybe something like 70-77 or something catchy like that.

The nit began with 32 teams, each one battling for 65th place. Now we are down to the Second-rate Eight.

What would be a good name for the last four teams left?

Say what you will, at least they didn't opt-out like some other teams.

Imagine having to play an ineligible player to beat an NIT team on the road.

I know that loss really chaps your arse. All the fans in your tiny little arena were so excited that Saturday. They wanted that one really bad but; instead, a Pearl-led Auburn fell short to Bama once again. Oh well.

I can sort of remember when the NIT was the bigger of the two.

Don't pick on them too much. With their football program in the absolute shitter basketball has been all they've had the last few years, and now they don't even have that.
