Nick Saban: The 2nd Greatest Coach in the first LSU/Alabama this year.

HOYT, are you his agent trying to get more money out of Alabama before he loses on Monday night?

When Saban arrived at LSU in 1999 the program had been unranked for over 2 years
TWO years? Do you mean to tell me that half the players on the team had been on teams that finished in the top 20 before Saban arrrived? And during those two years LSU had two first round and two second round NFL draft picks? And that half the players had won two bowl games and went 26-20 in the four years before Lord Saban's arrival?
LSU wasn't as far down as you Bamatards wish it was.
Why are you Bama fans so obsessed with Saban and LSU anyway? Insecure much?

Nick Saban: The Greatest
Les Miles inherited a gold mine from Saban at LSU and has continued the success there. Saban is one of the top 10 coaches of all-time
Yeah, Miles also inherited a lot of players whom he had NEVER met, much less recruited before.
And most of these never played for Saban, but rather sat the bench as back-ups.
Miles and his staff developed those "inherited" players into SEC caliber, not Saban.
And just how would Saban have reacted to taking over a program and having the worst man-made disaster slam your team for the first month of the season, not to mention having to play ELEVEN STRAIGHT WEEKS without a bye, and still make the SECCG ???
How would he have reacted to having to play a true freshman QB and throw him to the SEC wolves right before the season because his 5 star QB had
been dismissed from the team?
And as I recall, Miles was supposed to fall on his face recruiting-wise, team discipline and chemistry-wise, and especially - record-wise after the last of the legendary 'gold mine' Saban recruits left Baton Rouge.
I am proud to say Nick Saban returned LSU to prominence in 2001-2004, but the man has been out of this state for over SEVEN YEARS.
Les Miles and LSU don't owe Saban goat plop for where the program is right now. In 2003 and 2004, yes. But not since.........

Alabama was not abysmal either. They weren't elite, but they were one year removed from a 10 win season. Also, with the support you get at Bama (like LSU) for football, it's not like turning Rutgers or Fresno St around.

Hmmmmm, I wonder why Nick wasn't considered "TGOAT" at Michigan St.

He's good, but so many people don't even consider him the best coach in the game today.
Such as?
I know Gator fans think he's the greatest. He's been pawning y'all for years. Even made Urban quit.

He's only great up to gametime. No one's a-hole puckers quite like Nick's.

Cant deny the guy can coach.
Can't deny the guy can recruit. It's much easier to coach when you have a significant talent advantage.

Question for bama fans, and I'm asking this honestly and not to flame, because I dont' know the stats/figures/win %/all that other crap but I'm assuming yall will.
If Miles wins on Monday, Miles, Saban, and Meyer will all have 2 NCs while coaching at essentially the same time in the same conference. So what would put Saban clearly above those other 2?

His 0-3 bowl record at State is stellar.

Saban needs to win Monday or Les Miles will get all the "best coach of this era" talk. Bryant couldn't ever beat ND or Texas but he did win 6 NC's. When you do that you don't have to beat everybody to be considered the best. Right now Saban only has 2 and that's how many Miles will have if LSU wins.

He wasn't handed gold mines like Meyers and Miles

Saban's so good, he outcoached himself in "The Game of the Century". That's GOAT worthy right there.

Nothing. He has to win Monday. Or this discussion should be tabled until he wins #3. I do think he'll be in the running each year. We're loaded with talent and the 2012 recruits could be our best class ever. I see Bama in the mix for the next decade or whenever Saban wants to retire or leave for somewhere else (too old now for that).
