I met Bill once, I have pics in the Official Battlefield 3 thread on the gaming board. Thread got anchored a while back though, I'll dig it up when I get to a laptop.

As to Saban's age...I'm not worried that he is 60. Bryant was in the prime of his career in his 60s. From 1973, when he turned 60, to his retirement at 69 in 1982, Bryant went a combined 103-16-1 with 3 national championships and 7 SEC championships.

I think he stays another decade and retires with 5-6 national championships. He will be mentioned in the same breath with the Bear when Bama fans talk about the two in hushed tones. A couple of friends of mine who are Bama fans up here are convinced that he talks to the Bear through meditation, some psychic connection etc. And they are dead serious.

I think he gets one more national championship at most. Pardon me for tempering expectations but the last coach to retire with 4 or more national championships on his resume was Bear Bryant himself. To win just one is hard enough. The fact he has 3 of them is incredible.

He hurts his legacy by staying at Alabama. Bear Bryant is the legend at Alabama. Nick Saban could have been a Bear Bryant type figure if he had gone to a school that didn't have such a winning tradition before him

So Pat Dye should have left before he was fired...I mean quit due to shugs legacy?????

It's laughable how some of you think Don Shula's statement was based solely on the fact that his son was fired from UA. I'm sure that was a factor, but do you really think that is the sole basis for his opinion of Saban? You don't think the way Saban left the Dolphins influenced his opinion even a little bit? Please.
