Big Nick has the quickest first step of any SEC DL in recent memory by a long shot.

Sky is the limit for him. Don't forget he played OL in high school, played DE in JUCO and finally moved to DT full time when he came to Auburn in 2009. With two years to learn the position he put together a dominant season. Give him a few more and his pro potential is scary.

Dominique Easley has the quickest 1st step in the SEC now. Fairley passed it over to him from AU.

even though I didn't read this thread, I basically agree with your OP. Dirty play (or two) aside, the guy seems like a good person and plays with all his heart. I think (and hope) he will do great in the nfl.

well according to the HBO special, he probably wasn't being dirty, just getting paid to take people out. so I guess you can say he was just "playing the game."

He's done it all season. He's the definition of a dirty player.

I really feel like I'm being trolled here, but I'm not quite sure...

No, its just kind of obvious that (1) you and the other tampon-wearing bleeders have only been watching football from NCAA 2006-2010 on X-Box or (2) never once saw an Erk Russell coached Junkyard Dawg defense that would leave offensive players broken and bleeding from one end of the field to the other.

Did not say he would be a bust. I said he would be average. You are comparing SEC linemen to NFL linemen. They aren't even close. He stands up at the snap and he will get eaten up by experience professional road graders. I don't doubt he will still make it to the QB on occasion, but against the run he will be a liability unless he improves his technique.

I'm sure you think Marcell Dareus will be all pro too even though Fairley put up better numbers in 1 year than Dareus did in two.

I do think Dareus has a better chance in the NFL than Fairley, but he has his own question marks. His first step is a bit slow, his arms aren't quite as long as you would like, but his frame is much better suited to put on weight for the NFL. His straight line speed as measured by the 40 and the 10 is faster than Fairley, and he is a much more versatile prospect. Fairley is 6'3 and 280-290 with comparatively thinner limbs. There's not a whole lot of room for him to add anymore weight. Any weight he adds will only slow him down. I expect them both to play around 300-310 lbs. Dareus is better at that weight.

Analysts seem certain that he'll end up a Titan. I have my doubts. However, if he does end up in Nashville I sincerely hope he doesn't turn into an Albert Haynesworth.

Dominant on D-line, I sure hope so. But I don't want to see him piss his potential away with what their calling his questionable work ethic as well as carrying on his "dirty player" reputation.

However, it seem like he has a better head on his shoulders than Haynesworth

Shouldn't we wait until this is proven against an actual opponents offensive line and not our own inept offensive line?

Fairley anchored a DLine that was 11th in the country against the rush....

Dareus anchored a DLine that was 22nd in the country against the rush....

Oh yea and I think Fairley managed to "make it to the QB occasionally" More than Dareus can say.
