He was good, not saying that.
It all comes down to where you are drafted and what the team gets out of you. If a 1st rounder isn't still starting in a couple of years or never does then they are a bust. Even if you are a career backup.

Not sure what the question is about. Are you saying every man woman and child knew Bo from football.

Yes because of sterois usage but that doesnt mean he was not at that level

quote:

Prior to his entry into the NFL supplemental draft, Bosworth had sent letters to various NFL teams stating that, if they drafted him, he wouldn't report to their training camp and he wouldn't play for them. As a joke, the Tacoma Stars of the Major Indoor Soccer League selected him in the 12th round in their 1987 draft, as their general manager stated, "Because we didn't receive a letter from him that he wouldn't play for us."

So the same with Bo? Tampa drafted him first player in the 86 draft. Both set conditions. I am not comparing the two as humans at the time.

Yes Bo turned Tampa down... because he didnt want those expectations. Tampa wanted him as a premiere back. he wanted Baseball as his #1 sport and Tampa didnt want that.

Bo had a better career than Boz in college and in the pros

Bo had better YPC in his rookie year and his following years than most of the backs in the league now

YPC can be inflated by three big runs. And to compare total yards to a running back now "in a pass first league". Come on.

So you make no intellectual distinction between someone who just isn't a good pro and someone who is a victim of circumstances?

Of course I make an intellectual distinction between different types of busts, but it all still falls under the umbrella of "bust".

For example:

1. The "injury" bust. Ex: Bo Jackson

2. The "Could have been great if he weren't a fricking retard" bust. Ex: Rolando McClain

3. The "terrible player" or "pure" bust. Ex: Mark Ingram.

So if Ingram has a breakout year next season because he is not in a five man rotation, will he still be a bust?

Ingrams season will be just like the rest so far. He will get about 1/3 of the teams carries for 500-600 yards and a couple TDs. As a first round pick that = bust.

Bo was unstoppable in Tecmo Bowl. By my logic that means he is not a bust.

I think the use of so many rbs. Is part of the problem too. Some running backs need more carries to get in a groove. I didn't watch much saints, but didn't he start to get better towards the end of the year when he got more carries.

Honestly he began to look like an average NFL back, which is all he is. He's a solid back and put together a decent string of games towards the end of the season, but I think Robinson looked better than Ingram. Even though he is going to have a decent career that is still a bust when you're a first round pick IMO.

ingram was good last year. was at about 5 ypc in 2013, so of course they cut his total carries in half from the previous season. Saints are not committed to running, ingram would be better served being traded to somewhere that was.

I take it you are a Saints fan. Question about running backs. Who was the last good or great running back in a Sean Payton offense? I don't know the answer not a saints fan. And not trolling. It just seems some good ones went to die there or get traded and then have great careers
