A few points I'll add..

We can't do a refresh because the existing infrastructure is no good per engineers.

We can build new nearby, but the overwhelming consensus is to keep it in the same place and do a multi- year build.

NO one wants to play out of BCS. The city threw a hissy fit and most of the fans want it in BCS and not houston (except the aholes in houston.)

Ms.State.. Emory Bellard? We are nothing alike anymore. I still like you State. Jason Cook is one of the best things to happen to aggieland and he is a state bulldog.

With the changes for the university beyond the SEC, we will require more capacity. It isn't an option to decrease seating. The huge biotech grant, the Medical and Law schools becoming part of the school.. Lots of changes to A&M beyond football will increase our demand.

7. WTF does Texas have to do with any of this? We don't even play them anymore and we are bigger than them anyway.

Dont you have to get permission from Texas for this?

Actually its a great move. I just dont understand where the $400M is needed for a renovation.

I don't think you understand the depth of this renovation. It should look like a completely different stadium by the time it's done.

I agree with your point but a 100K plus stadium that they can fill will go a long way to keeping us from rapin their HS crops...

aggy took what was a horrible stadium in the 1960's and managed to make it worse. Twice. I sat in the original stadium back in the day and even on the top row you had a helluva hard time seeing over the bench the elevation was so bad.

Not sure when they added the second deck but it made no sense. Putting a third one up was absolutely stupid.

The reason it is so much is they are going to add a boatload of luxury seating. Kyle has a fair amount of boxes/club seating now but there are big waiting lists and huge demand. There are a ton of Aggies in the "$4k per season ticket plus" category demand wise. A&M knows they need that kind of cash to keep up in the arms race and they are going after it.

Why would rename it that? Mizzou has a losing record at Kyle.

It's going to cost an estimated 70MM more to do the phase rebuild. I'm curious as to how the BCS city council even has a say in what TAMU does. BCS exists because of the university. Financially the most logical choice would be a season in Houston and a complete tear down/rebuild. This is simply a city trying to negate the risk/reward of the free market so a few businesses (that also survive just fine during non-football season) don't take a hit. Let's not forget these are the same businesses that bitch about all the traffic during game weeks.

It isn't going to be a simple face lift renovation. The east and wsidelines side are in bad shape. Hell the lower decks were built in the late 1920's.

They will likely build the south endzone first in year one, then completely demolish and rebuild the student side (east side) and move the students to the south endzone in year two. Year three will be the former student side (west) rebuild with either the students or former students in the south endzone. The northern endzone is fairly new and it will likely only need a new facade to match whatever is built on the other sides and a little updating that can be done after one of the seasons.

It will be pretty much a brand new stadium except for the north endzone.

I wish the track would be narrowed or just have the Corp march in on the edge of the field so the stands could be closer.

Surely they would do that. I mean what purpose does that old track serve this day and age?

As a former member of the Corps I agree wholeheartedly with this. I, for one, have no opposition to completely removing the pass and review from Kyle and moving it to Simpson. Might make it a little more dramatic too, since you don't really get a feel for the Corps when they're just marching around a track. Put them all in one place, in that field, and it would look better imo. While we're at it, disband Corps block.

So in short:
1. Take out Track
2. Build new stands closer to field
3. Disband Corps Block
4. Move pass and review to Simpson Drill Field
5. ???
6. Profit. Profit. Profit.

Well that just may be tough. They can do that somewhere else or whatever.
