If they could finish all the work with just 1 season being away from Kyle then that is by far the best idea. On-going construction on the stadium for 3+ years sounds like a frickin nightmare.

It would suck for current students but whatever. Let all the games be free for them that season if they are played at Reliant or whatever and setup a shuttle service from Houston - CS or something.

I bet Reliant would not let students on the field post game.

That's pretty new, if you have kids it is badass. I don't know many students who really do it.

So it isn't a tradition and shouldn't be considered a reason why Reliant isn't feasable. Got it.

Great. Let us know when championships are awarded based on enrollment and endowment.

That's the Texas way...if its bigger and richer it must be better. They just haven't got it yet that this mentality won't fly in the SEC.

Exactly. Old habits die hard, even if they don't serve any purpose in the current order.

So we cannot ever build a stadium over 100 thousand

If we build it too small, we will just have to remodel it in 10 to 20 years anyway. That would likely cost a lot more than during it now due to the current low interest rates.

FWIW it says it could be anywhere from 93k-103k. We had over 90k for Nebraska in a stadium that "holds" 83k.

Construction has nothing at all to do with Texas. The supporting structure of the East and West decks of Kyle are very, very old and in serious need of work. The Zone is relatively new, but the rest of Kyle is way past being updated.

On top of that, we have been consistently selling out Kyle (even for the very bad opponents) despite the fact that we haven't been very good. With the way the alumni base is growing, there is no reason not to expect demand to fill a 100,000 seat stadium.

The time is right for the expansion, and the renovation is going to be extensive. They will be more or less rebuilding the entire stadium, sans the endzone facility.

What does this have to do with Texas? I think you guys are confusing us with them when you are talking about attendance issues. They report 100K when there are maybe 70K in the stands. Even in our big suck Fran era, we had strong attendance compared to what other schools would have had in that situation. In fact, Aggie haters have said that our ability to maintain attendance has worked against us when it came to sending messages to the AD about coaching changes.

This renovation has been a long time coming. One of the main issues is having premium suites on the East side of the stadium which will bring in a lot of revenue. Currently, our only high dollar suites are in the Zone. Also, the size of the seats at Kyle Field is incredibly narrow.

As for the bleachers, the entire East side of the stadium better stay bleachers because that entire side of the stadium stands the entire game and stands on the bleachers in front of them at different points.

quote:

Renovation costs ranged from $425 to $450 million and seating ranged from 93,000 to 103,500, according to officials.

I'm very active in the 12th Man Foundation and 103K is definitely the highest capacity that I have heard and this article is the only place I've seen that reported. I've consistently heard just under 100K.

Renovating our POS stadium that was built 100 years ago = Us not getting over Texas.

As for the question do we have to be better than Texas? Well we do battle for practically every recruit on a yearly basis so having facilities that are up to par would be a smart thing to have tbqh.

Personally I don't care how run down a stadium is as long as it is LOUD.

I agree. I just hope the designers really take ake acoustics into account when planning the changes. Closing in all the sides and moving the stands in towards the field(+lowering the playing field as well would be great if it is feasible.) would also really help with the noise level.

Yes! Send them back to Conference USA or wherever it is they came from.
