Yes, there was mountains of evidence. Go read the NCAA report and you will be amazed that it took so long or the fact that he wasnt rulled inelligible while there.

This is still an issue? Wake me when something factual actually happens. Until then, neither Cam nor Cecil were paid.

I'm not gonna really get into this besides saying, Cam can deny all he wants, but honestly think about it. How could he have not known what his dad was doing? If he honestly and truly didn't know then sure, his dad did it on his own. But it's his DAD. And for how much they tout being so close to each other, I don't know how anyone can believe Cam was unaware of his Father's actions.

I don't know if Cam was paid, or what happened, but it still doesn't seem fair to me.
For example, let's say a high profile player wants to go to Auburn, His dad solicits money from Auburn for his son's services. Auburn doesn't pay, then the high profile player goes to Alabama.
In this situation, Auburn is put at a disadvantage due to having to pay to secure the players services, while Alabama wasn't.
The NCAA needs to clean up this loop hole. In my opinion, the player should be supsended and nothing happen to either university.
If not, then a player can just have his parents solicit money from a school, if he gets turned down, then he can go to another school and play, also punishes the school that was solicited. There has to be reprecusions for this.
(Yes, I am mad that we didn't get Cam Newton

It doesn't really matter what anyone thinks. They have to have to prove Cam knew about it.

Of course the NCAA is going to defend their position.
And the "misunderstood issue" arose from their own by-laws indicating that Cam would be ineligible if a close contact solicited funds, gifts, etc.
The NCAA made several rulings last year (OSU in particular) based on $$$$ and nothing more. corrupt organization. I don't buy anything they say any more.

We are not talking about life, talking about College Football. If this loophole is left open, wait and see how it feels with the shoe on the other foot.
