The exact responce was "I don't want to hear that".
Followed by "But we are still going to continue to recruit you and try to get you to sign with us until the very end and we won't tell the SEC and NCAA about any of this unless you decide to sign with someone else!"

But there were no rules broken? At least, that is what I keep getting told in this thread.

I thought under NCAA ruling he was eligible, but under SEC ruling, he "shouldn't" have been. That's how I took it. I might've been wrong though. Not sure.
The BAMMER forum poster and/or sports radio caller would have you believe that Cam shouldn't have been eligible and that there is a hard fast SEC rule. But Slive has not done that for any athlete who has either solicited funds or actually received benefits; including Julio and Ingram (Boat Trip), Jerrell Harris (Laptop), and Dareus (Agent Trip)... I am sure there are examples at other schools where players received some benefit, paid it back, and continued to play. Can you find an example of Slive ever ruling a player ineligible from SEC compition?

Actually, I believe you are correct... MSU should take this as good news that since money did not change hands, no violation occured....

Well, I guess that explains why MSU made a report about it to the SEC and NCAA then... because they thought no rules were broken.

Jacobs said "technically it's still an open issue," but he also said that nothing has changed since NCAA president Mark Emmert's comments in February that "there was no evidence that Auburn University had anything to do with" Newton's father soliciting money during recruiting.

I am asking a question, not presuming.
The site says "official" twitter page...
Also, gives link to a facebook account.
SO, just asking if they are fake or not? Reason being is that this was previously said to be fake because the BIO said "Not Cam Newton". It does not say that now...

If there were no rules broken then he would have not been ruled ineligible and reinstated. The rules were broken during the recruitment at another school, other than Auburn. I will leave it up to you to guess

I will translate said quote.
Ladies and gentlemen of the Family.... and CPA, while our icon and entertainer Cam :crowd smiles real big: Newton was cleared, the case remains open. Though they have not found anything yet they are still rummaging through my desk drawers and keeping close tabs on our good and honest pal Trooper.
