Because each scoreboard for online is run by interns at the schools. These interns are too busy being on TikTok and shite.
I remember a job like that would have been a coveted position 20 years ago. Not so much anymore.

I’m watching softball at 12:30 EDT. Cal Baptist has put a 9 spot on UCLA. No, make it 10! CB started the inning down 7-1, now leading 11-7. Still only one out.

Frickin UCLA came back and walked it off in the 7th. I was hoping for a repeat of 2023 when Grand Canyon and Liberty knocked them out of their own regional in two games. UCLA was the overall #2 that year. Shocking and beautiful.

Thanks for the correction. Weird thing is I had the ESPN scores page up all day, and I too thought Texas won it 2-1. Maybe they were getting their info from the NCAA site at first but then corrected it.
...or my brain was faulty. <--always a possibility.
But yeah, I do agree that the NCAA site cannot be trusted, even for things as simple as who is the home team or which score belongs to which team.
I usually have the statbroadcast page up for individual games I'm following closely. They seem to be the most reliable, but even those have been kinda shitty for the last month or so, not so much for bad info but in getting way behind. If something complicated happens or, God forbid, a call is reversed, we might be waiting half an inning or more to get it corrected/caught up.
