It isn't gonna happen.

But in the meantime, some scared gumps are gonna be hopeful and pray for it while overestimating it's impact if it were to happen.

Just laugh at them. Best course of action in this case.

I'm not a proponent of changing rules. These damn coaches are making multimillions to plan, scheme, and devise a plan to beat the opponent. I hated the bullshite Nick Saban contact restrictions that pussy, lazyass coaches wanted for evaluating high school players. No coach will out recruit Nick Saban and once they realized they were getting their arse handed to them on the recruiting trail, they whined to get the rule to restrict him. Nicks adjusted his recruiting and is still kicking arse. He can damn well adjust his coaching plan and scheme to remedy these hunh offenses. God knows he gets paid enough, he will do his job.

before the defense could only sub if the offense did, in which case the offense had to wait x ammount of time for the defense, correct??
does this mean both teams only have 10 seconds? what if the defense takes its 10 free seconds, and then the offense decides they want to sub after to counter, do they then require ANOTHER time allotment for the defense to counter again? i think this is just dumb.

I'll remain civil in this thread now. Crazy and Harvey have left so I'll tone it down and leave off with the hyperbole.

“This rules change is being made to enhance student-athlete safety by guaranteeing a small window for both teams to substitute,” said Calhoun. “As the average number of plays per game has increased, this issue has been discussed with greater frequency by the committee in recent years and we felt like it was time to act in the interests of protecting our student-athletes.”

Nice job of toning it down. And the worst use of civil ever.

Yeah, nowhere in that quote (or his other statements) does Calhoun or anyone mention evidence of a safety issue. I mean, yeah, if you run more plays injuries go up proportionally just because that's more chances of something happening. Does that mean we should put a play count on teams like little league does pitch counts?

How is this safer for the player? Where is the data that shows the lack of substitutions equaled more injuries? When people investigated this in the past the data actually showed the opposite.

Even though LSU doesn't run anything close to a HUNH, I agree with this, it is definitely fun to watch.

They should be able to snap regardless of playclock, as long as the defense has a fair chance to sub.
