We don't have great expectations for today! Hard to beat a team 3 times....beat Indiana back early in the season and again yesterday, will be tough to beat them again today
I have good expectations. Beat them 12-2 in regular season, 16-6 yesterday, and lost 5-3 on Saturday in large part due to one pitch that got away for a 3 run HR.

In three games the score differential has been 31-13, no reason to think we can’t pull it out. Anything can happen in baseball, but give me home field advantage in a winner take all scenario all day long. Go Cats!

I get that they’re pushing ESPN+ but damn.
I caved. They'll get at least one month out of me.

Skip and Shannon Sharp broke up. Something has to replace it.

Wow, Tennessee and Oregon fans can just go ahead and book hotel rooms in Omaha now.

Oral Roberts is pretty damn salty and Southern Miss (if they win today) won't be flustered going into Knoxville, either (assuming that's where they end up putting that regional).

What is involved with "bidding"? Is it just putting up cash to be able to host?

I think all games will be on espn+ regardless. Closer to the super regionals, I’m sure some of them will get picked up across the espn platforms once the schedules get finalized

Eh, I think ORU is better than Oregon. That's not going to be a cakewalk.

It's truly like any business bid process - you send in your bid presentation/packet hitting on why you should host and they make a decision.

This is the literal Bid Request for Proposal from the NCAA for 2023. You also had to have submitted it before the tournament started (I remember this bit a few teams in the past).

Super Regional Bid Request

The general things they look at are:
- facilities (lighting, size, etc)
- budgets (lodging for everyone and all of that)
- media setup (cameras, TV, etc)

But in the end there is no hard and fast criteria - which obviously leaves a whole lot open to interpretation (and fan bickering).

What a shitty way to decide, can you imagine if that was the case for football or basketball postseason games?

On a side note, it would be fun if A&M lost a bid to Texas or Tenner lost a bid to USM.

I should add I think it only really comes down to that stuff when the 2 teams are (a) not regional hosts, because there is a clear pecking order there due to seeding and (b) too close in terms of resume to really make a decision.

However, it seems to me like they basically have an s-curve seeding chart 1-64 just like basketball does. Unless a higher seeded team didn't submit a bid I don't quite understand why they shouldn't get to host.

Both tu and USM have perfectly adequate hosting facilities. UT has the largest ballpark. All are 2 seeds. All have similar resumes. If A&M and/or USM win, I could easily see it playing out where any 2 of the 4 (obviously not 2 facing off) hosting the super.

I am not so sure that is true. Or at least it isn't true to where they are placed for regionals.

You are definitely right on the placed in regionals = seeding 1-64 part, because they generally try to have most of the regional teams be in that same region of the country (outside of some #2 seeds like A&M, BC, Oregon).

The A&M/Texas thing will be fascinating because everything between the two is really close and even - right down to both having facilities that check all the boxes.
