So Pierce is gone? Are the wheels really turning already?
Sorry if I missed the news, I was too busy watching LSU lose a regional.
I don't think it's a done deal yet.. but it sounds like the wheels are in motion to at least explore the possibility.. CDC is a quiet assassin.. we won't know until the deal is done
It's hard to find anyone who wants Pierce back.. that's pretty rare to be honest.. usually there are some sunshine pumpers..
But it is possible that CDC gives him another year with a real good pitching coach.. Pierce isn't a bad coach.. especially in the postseason.. we had no business hanging with A&M like we did, but he somehow has unlimited rabbits to pull..
he just sucks at roster management
Ultimately, he is coach that throws shite against the wall early in the season and then he will make changes for the last part of the season and going into the postseason.. If you gave him a good roster.. he would probably win a NC..

I will be honest - t.u got hot early while our bats were cold. Y'all just self destructed and we took every advantage of it.
I'd like for y'all to keep Pierce... not biased in anyway!

I’m going to be boring. All hosts win their SR. UNC/A&M in the final.

lots of Tulo smoke today.. I know CDC likes him, but he has no HC experience.. although USC did offer him..
Tulo with an elite PC + a recruiter could be pretty good

That would be awesome, but don’t think we have the pitching…we will see

So a Texas Ex I know said he thinks he gets offered a one year extension but no increase and not guaranteed
Seems plausible if he doesn’t get axed

South Carolina folks, hearing some hubbub locally that you may have interest in Dan McDonnell at Louisville. Anything to that?
McDonnell hasn't embraced the portal apparently due to NIL funds being light along with administration support in the post-Jurich era of UL sports - and USC has made it known there will be $ available from Gamecock Club boosters who never contributed to - nor was asked by - one Mark Kingston -
he's got the cache - and the Omaha trips speak for themselves - he's a Chal Port guy that also played one season w Fred Jordan and that carries a ton of credibility all over both Carolinas - he hasn't recruited SC much but The Citadel ties gives him access to all of the established HS programs/coaches across SC -
when it all shakes out I don't think USC will pay a salary he would command based on his current deal -

Keep/make Tulo Hitting coach and bring Scott Forbes from North Carolina as head coach.
“Forbes has been instrumental in developing all aspects of the program* in his tenure. As pitching coach from 2006-16, he worked with pitchers who were selected 33 times in the Major League Baseball Draft, and earned eight All-America and 21 All-ACC honors, including nine first-team All-ACC honors.”
“ Forbes coached seven of the 10 winningest pitchers in UNC history and the top five in career strikeouts. Carolina's All-America pitchers under Forbes include Miller (2006), Andrew Carignan (2007), White (2008), Brian Moran (2009), Patrick Johnson (2011), Emanuel (2012 and 2013) and Michael Morin (2012). ”
*Forbes eliminated the national champions LSU Tigers in the 2024 regional.
Coach looks SEC-ready

That's basically what I heard.
And it tracks. He's been pretty vocal the last couple years at UofL feeling that he wasn't getting the support he should (which is nuts given he's probably the only coach in that program that hasn't been a clownshow). These were his comments last year and I don't get the vibe that his mood has changed.
And UofL fans at this point are ready for him to leave. Probably a change that would be good for both.

That doesn’t make much sense to me.

It sounds that Texas has been told no by most of the good coaches behind the scenes, and now are looking at tweaks to what they have currently. They need to upgrade their facilities in a large way, and EVERY SEC team has money. You aren't likely to poach an SEC coach with "$$$"

She is reading the tea leaves since I said there was a lot of smoke about Tulo today.. but those rumors have been around all year..
Tulo will be around either way it sounds like.. either as HC with a great pitching coach.. or as hitting coach with a HC that likely has a pitching background.. or as Interim HC after Pierce gets fired for starting 0-15 in the SEC..

They have been told no by many of their top targets. Loved Rogers' response to can Texas steal Schlossnagle ... Almost as funny as thinking Vitello is a possiblity. Don't know about the rest of them. Looking at minor upgrades to the team in most of the available options connects the dots.
I'm honestly not sure they are getting rid of Pierce yet. He still has a job this morning. It will be interesting to watch. And forget making us pay more for Schloss - he is already getting a raise this offseason. And an 80M renovation to BBP.

Read somewhere that the North Greenville coach was also on USCe's radar as a potential replacement. Would make sense as Landon Powell played there.

Scott Forbes strikes me as being a Carolina lifer. I suppose he could leave for a huge payday at USuCk but my gut says UNC will do what it needs to do to keep him.
