Statistically the exact opposite of 2010 Auburn.

Biggest fluke ever. Refs saved them so many times during the game.

You can't turn the ball over 5 times and win.

How are they adjusted? I don't recall Auburn ever having the 24th ranked defense.

Yep, if we lose it will probably be because of the offense in my opinion.

Didn't realize AUs defense was that good in 2010. Especially with how many points the O put up

You mean the refs saved Miami so many times in that game to get them to overtime in the first place right?

Wrong. The refs were giving Miami every non-call imaginable when OSU was on defense. They caused 5 turnovers and dropped two more interceptions. They were also being held on several plays by the U offensive line. And Chris Gamble stripped a WR of the ball and it was a clear fumble. Call never got reversed. OSU won the game fair and square

Pretty interesting stuff.

Of the 15 champs, 8 had a higher ranked defense than offense, 4 had a higher ranked offense than defense, and 3 had the same rank on offense/defense. (Analysis - most champs' defense has been ranked better than their offense)

Of the 15 champs, 5 had an offense ranked outside the top 10 (worst being 38th) and 3 had a defense ranked outside the top 10 (worst being 24th), 0 had both an offense and defense ranked outside the top 10. (Analysis - might be easier to overcome a less non-elite offense than it is to overcome a non-elite defense to win a championship, but you need at least one elite unit).

Michigan State would be the big surprise winner based on this analysis. Although their defense is ranked higher than their offense like most championship teams, both units are outside the top 10 (offense WAY outside - 41st - would be worst of all champions).

Not surprisingly, Alabama's offense is not elite based on adjusted stats. They don't put up gaudy yards or points. If Alabama is going to win the championship it will once again be based on an elite defense.

That's because Auburn didn't. That team finished worse than 50th in nation in total defense that year.

I think it's using scoring offense and defense.
