Below is the adjusted stats on both sides of the ball for each Champion over the last 15 years. Pretty interesting when comparing 2015 Alabama and current playoff teams to these teams.
2000 Oklahoma Sooners: Offense – 13th, Defense – 3rd
2001 Miami Hurricanes: Offense – 3rd, Defense – 4th

Nebraska and Penn state were not perennial top 10 recruiters, they had EXCELLENT coaches. Recruiting stars and classes weren't a thing 20 years ago, the programs that won had more time on tv and the good recruits followed. Nothing like it is now. The top 10 isn't going anywhere regardless of CFB landscape. Those programs still put the most talent in the NFL and still have the titles and tradition to back it all up.
