15 college jobs better than Alabama

Big 12: Kansas/Houston?
ACC:UNC/Duke/
Big10: Indiana/Michigan State/Oregon?(bc unlimited NIL)/UCLA(history)
SEC:Kentucky/Florida/Arkansas(history)
Big East: UConn(history)

I guess there are a few more or less equal jobs depending on how you define it.

I’m not sure “history” trumps NIL going forward.

The SEC has no what I would call “dead end” jobs anymore.

Ole Miss, Georgia, and Auburn were the bottom of the 10 league SEC.

Not true anymore.

Auburn is part of the national conversation in basketball.

Ole Miss has a great coach.
UGA made the tournament.

50 years ago, this would be considered impossible.

It’s a good job.

He’s not leaving for Wake Forest.

Oats is a great coach.

The SEC is full of great coaches.

Pearl is a great coach. He’s won big at Auburn. This is our zenith. We’ve had occasional good teams, but 2 final fours in a decade? I never thought I would see it.

Amazing.

Alabama football is on an undeniable nosedive since giving up 40 points in a loss to unranked Vanderbilt and there’s not enough NIL money in the world to stop it.

Ohio State just won the NIL natty. I think any university in the country could buy a national title with enough NIL money.

Done with what?

I enjoy basketball.
Alabama has a good coach.

I hope Auburn wins every game of every sport, but I can acknowledge that other teams have great players and coaches.

I can also acknowledge that we are not perfect.

11/20 from foul line makes it hard to win close games. Glad we got by MSU and Izzo who is another great coach.

The final 4 teams each did the job to get there, and all of them have great coaches and players.

I never intended to bother you.
I apologize if this has hurt you in some way.

Literally all you have to do is suck TideSaints cok and he will let you post on the Bama board. You're trying too hard.

Do you feel that Auburn has made the leap to where Pearl would not be similarly approached for jobs at more traditional powerhouses?

I think Bruce stays at Auburn.

I would imagine preliminary calls are made to coaches who win like he has at Auburn.

Never say never, but Pearl IS Auburn basketball. At Kansas or UNC, 2 final fours in a decade would not make you a legend.

For the record, I don’t see Pearl ever leaving Auburn. Some of that is “age” related. It’s hard work and he has built Auburn into a basketball power.

Lol, no way is it a top 15 job. There's no history, you have to live in Tuscaloosa, and you'll always play second fiddle to the football program when it comes to funding. Right now, sure, it's a nice job. But basketball is a lot easier to change the culture of a program. I'd say it really just depends where he wants to live. Coaching Maryland and living on the Chesapeake bay with a nice condo in DC sounds pretty sweet. Looks like he's also from Wisconsin.

If that is your experience, good for you.

My lifestyle choices are more traditional than yours, but enjoy your freedom. I will neither endorse your proclivities or diminish your choices.

I’m not sure why homoerotic narratives need to take over threads, but if that fuels you, go for it.

SummerOfGeorge,

We have been shite talking each other in basketball before many fans here realized our schools had basketball programs. Do you like kissass rivals like makersmark? People like him are always the first to stab you in the back when you're not looking.

I’ve seen this hundreds of times by now with every successful coach.

Oats will let rumors build, he will take a much needed vacation and he won’t speak to the press for a day or two.

Within the week he will have a new contract for more money, a higher buyout, and a renewed commitment from the Bama boosters to increase the basketball NIL fund.

I don’t blame coaches for milking colleges out of every dime possible because universities will fire them at the drop of a hat when things go poorly.
