I remember just two years ago that Alabama fans (the few who said basketball mattered at all) said LSU's multiple Final Fours didn't mean anything, that only titles counted.

Pearl also had to build a program almost from scratch. Not a fair comparison to Oats. They are both good coaches, but Pearl gets the nod for me.

That’s a lot of words just to show that Pearl has 2 Final Fours to Oats’ 1.

Pearl had a five year head start to build a program before Oats arrived at Alabama. Despite that, Oats has the better head to head record.
But you would take Hitler, Satan or Derek Dooley over any Alabama coach.
