Scared to admit that a certain team may be taking the neccasary leaps to move up the totem pole is leaving you searching for a third party for your rival list. So you pull a team that hasn't been relevant since in over 30 years and claim them as a rival? They have no buisiness even being in existence until they join a conference. Their year is the biggest fluke imaginable. Well next to last year of course. By that I mean, two SEC teams from the same division will not face one another again in the current format of the BCS title game. After all playoffs start in two years.

my hope is that we start playing Texas again, but that the LSU game becomes a much more important game in the future for us (and a much bigger rivalry). really looks like that will be the case if you consider the direction all 3 programs are going

We wouldn't be able to play UGA and UT every year though.
And UGA would almost always be in Atlanta with that setup.

It takes time to develop a rivalry. It would be ridiculous to name any SEC team as one of our chief rivals. The only one we have any significant history with is Texas A&M, and they haven't really risen to chief rival status. Yet. If and when Mizzou gets moved to the SEC West where it belongs, I suspect both A&M and Arkansas will develop into top rivals in the SEC, plus Kentucky will likely be a basketball rival.

Actually, I don't consider Illinois to be a big rival. But for Mizzou fans in the St. Louis area, yes they are a rival, fed by the geography. MU Basketball does play the Illini an annual game in St. Louis in Decemeber, which is kind of a big deal.
As a Mizzou Baseball fan, I consider Illinois pretty irrelevant.
For Mizzou Baseball, the rivals (as I see them):
kansas
Texas
Missouri State
Again, I can see Arkansas and A&M becoming our baseball rivals if MU ever gets put into the West.
