Is it, though? There has always been a bunch of shite going on between the two, not just since 2007/10.
Was there really? I've been a UGA fan for 40 years. I always considered the UGA/AU rivalry to be more of a brotherly kind of rival...Some years AU had our number, sometimes UGA had Auburn's. We shared a number of coaches over the years, and a number of players.
I believe the rivalry turned ugly (in the eyes of AU fans) in 2007 when UGA had that dancing display at the end of the 2007 game. I didn't really like it that much, and it was, IMO, a harbinger of bad things to come under Richt as far as discipline.
For UGA fans, the rivalry took a bad turn in 2010, with Fairley. I'm not gonna go into who I think is right or wrong on that one. I'm just gonna stick with what I think was wrong with MY team during that time period.
Suffice it to say, I think we can all agree that rivalries were made 'hotter' with the advent of the internet, message boards, and social media. Before that, all you had was the random trash talk between fans on the street, at tailgates, and at games.

We did...and I can't say that I am proud of that now. As previously posted, it's my opinion that those 2 incidents did a lot to damage discipline during the last several years of the CMR tenure. It appears that Kirby Smart has a low tolerance for those sort of things now...and I concur whole-heartedly with that.

I don't remember the AU one much, if at all.

During the Tubberville days, it was Auburn. Now it's A&M and Bama. Though i love hanging out with both their fans. For all the shite thrown out on the internet, their fans are class and fun to hang out with. Actually really like Auburn now, second favorite team in the SEC. Have really good friends who are diehards for all 3.

My first game at Sanford stadium('99), I was bathed in drink cups from above. There was a lot of shite in that game from the fans. Then you have the water "canons" in the early 80's. The players have always had a lot of shite talking and PF's in the series as well.

Its hard to hate A&M as they have never beat LSU since entering the SEC!!!

Same here, as much as I want to, I don't hate LSU or Bama. Got too many real life friends that are fans of both and don't act anything like people do on this board. Even during the Tubs years when the AU-LSU game winner was usually in the drivers seat for the conference title, LSU has always been my second favorite in the SEC.

Auburn and Tennessee. I hate both alot. I am bored with Tennessee now though. They suck. Maybe Jeremy can pick them back up. But maybe not.

I guess if my team lost to Kentucky 4 in a row, I would have hate as well. Hate on fricker!

The USCe-Kentucky series is a blessing from God right now. 4 in a row...

Always reminds me of this old cartoon, where the 2 ride to work together then kill each other all day, clock out and then ride home together again

Tuscaloosa posted this cartoon in a thread on the OT yesterday.

Again...A lot of stuff happened over the years that the casual fan wasn't privy to until the advent of the internet and message boards. Everyone has their share of bad fans. Example...I was once given tickets to an FSU/GT game in the early 2000s...I didn't wear any 'game gear', as I was just a neutral observer taking my kid to a game. However, I was harassed by tailgating GT fans just because they saw a UGA tag on my car. It happens. Or, shite happens, if you prefer.

UGA's first game wearing black jerseys since the 1940s/Early 50s. Big, loud crowd at Sanford. AU was ahead 20-17, and then UGA scored 25 unanswered points.
In the closing moments, UGA players were shown on TV on the sidelines dancing to 'Soljah Boy' with Verne and Gary even joining in up in the booth. Sore spot for AU fans for years.
