This phrase pops up way too often from the stupidest of Bama fans.

That's right. Somebody has to make the tackles. This kid is good so I don't want to dis him but he wouldn't crack the two deep at Bama.
State is redshirting 2 4* linebackers. Our LB corps are underrated. I bet these lists largely excluded Chris White and KJ Wright in 2010 as well didn't they?
Cam Lawrence is one of the best LB in the SEC and deserves mention as such. I do not think he's very projectable into the NFL, but in college, there aren't many better. Deonte Skinner will be the next great State LB that fits the prototype at the next level. Matt Wells is going to be drafted early as a jr. He is one of the first LB specifically designed to cover the new breed of NFL tight end. LB size, safety speed.

I'd love to know how you came to that conclusion being that all of the aforementioned players are freshman and have hardly played.

Cameron Lawrence, 26 tackles 1 sack and he didnt really play at all against JSU.

Because I have eyes ive seen film... And more importantly.. Wait for it... Saban wanted them over Kwon..
More specifically kwon is an arm tackler and he doesn't square up to hit.. He's a good speed guy but wrestles players to the ground and not much on form tackling and he's kinda small.. would be a safety at Bama but he probably can't cover that well..

I know you believe that alabama is stacked in the 4 deep spots but that doesn't make it true. A large part of why your defense plays so well is because of your offensive scheme and how much they keep your D off the field. You have great players and they are even better coached but to suggest that the leading tackler in the SEC wouldn't crack your two deep is retarded. Again you do have some great athletes but they aren't on a completely different level from other good teams in the SEC. I'm sure Johnathan Banks and Darius Slay wouldn't crack your two deep either though according to the rant.

Yes. I would nominate Minter to represent The Shoe.

Yeah, I'm glad he seems to have bounced back from his knee. Do you think we backed off because of his size, his injury or both?
I think it's both - he would have had to bulk up a little, plus rehab the knee (and those are a tad tough to do at the same time) - going with LSU gave him the option to stay lighter. We're more of a "speed kills" type of defense, especially on the outside.
Kwon's been great so far, in limited action.

He wanted Daunte Culpepper over Drew Brees (which, I guess is a good thing from your perspective...)

You got 1 example....? Cool. Im sure he's won more than he's lost in the player evaluation/selection department... you're seriously questioning Saban's ability to select players?

Kwon made the right decision. I believe he was a take for Bama at the end, but after looking at the systems and the depth charts he made the right call heading to Baton Rouge to play for Chavis.
And StepL is right, Kwon would've redshirted at Bama in all likelihood. He's just too small to play in anything but our Nickel and Dime packages.

Mathew Wells is amazing. Obviously still young but watch out for him I have never seen someone big enough to play LB with the speed to drop into coverage like he does. I see him absolutely giving teams fits down the road, I know a lot of posters don't know who he his but look up some film and you will see what I mean.

No - I'm saying it's not definitive. And in this case, clearly it is a style difference. It does not mean Kwon Alexander was not a quality player, or perhaps even "better" than the other linebackers on Bama's wish list - there are some fundamental differences between the 3-4 that Bama runs and the 4-3 that Chavis runs --
Let's take the Denzen Devall/Kwon Alexander split - Devall from Louisiana goes to Bama and Alexander from Bama goes to LSU - both are recruited by both schools. Kwon is a better fit at LSU because he is a more athletic OLB and would have to either play safety at Bama or gain weight. Devall is not quite a Mike for a 4-3, but is a great fit in a 3-4.
Everybody wins in this type of exchange. Have a great day.
