The only rumblings I have heard are that Meyer has been upset with some recruiting tactics. What I have heard that his beef's are with Saban, Richt, Miles and Shannon. I think more and more Meyer just sounds like a whiney baby. Similar to the Georgia end zone thing.
I'm not so sure Urban wants to go kicking the "recruiting scandal ant pile" just yet. He's not exactly well-liked by the other coaches when it comes to recruiting and I'm sure some of them have some dirt on him too.

Whatever it is, it's likely that the entire SEC will rally against that crybaby. Man, he's tiresome. He doesn't seem to welcome competition.
Say what you want about THE HAT and TINY DANCER but both of them believe they are the baddest man in the room.

They might actually get their chance to bring Sly Croom home.
Sly Croom at Alabama scares me a whole lot more than Saban. Croom is an amazing coach and would build a formidable program there.
I can see Saban going to Washington. It is in the Pacific Northwest and out of the spotlight. The media would give him a pass and understand why he'd leave Alabama to go there. He could start over and coach football, which is all he wants to do. The only competition in the Pac 10 is USC and now possibly Arizona St. and UCLA. Beautiful place, good West Coast talent, sane, but passionate fan base.
It actually makes sense. Going to Penn St. would be a circus. Plus, Joe Pa has said that his successor is currently on his staff right now.
Saban to Washington is the most plausible thing I've seen - much more so than the Saban to LSU or West Virginia rumors last year (which probably had more truth to them than people realize).
Is this why Bama's recruiting is off a bit? Is Saban not trying as hard?

I'll take The Hat vs. any SEC coach any day of the week.

Left Miami after 2 years because he knew he was failing as a coach and didn't want to take the ego hit publically
Fixed. He knew that he had built a reputation and had he gone to the NFL and failed miserably then his stock drops. Same at Bama, which is why this makes a little sense to me. If he sees that he will fail at Bama (by the expectations) then he will lose stock there as well. Nicky only thinks about one person, and thats Nicky.

Probably not, the same way you guys knew he was making a mistake to go to Miami. Wouldn't you agree, though, that him leaving Bama after 2 years is entirely different from him leaving LSU after 5 and succeeding to try out the NFL?
No. It would not be a mistake for him to leave Bama to go to Washington. He would probably do better there than at Bama because he would not have pressure that you guys demand on everyone, including Gene Stallings. Much like the Israelites in the Wilderness, it's going to take 40 years and the death of a generation for y'all.

Yeah, but the Emmert connection is key. He can start over without the massive expectations and just coach football. He'll never be able to do that at Alabama and he knows it. Of course, people could have told him, but Nick's massive ego makes him believe that he can handle anything. He is not stubborn, however. When he realizes that the situation is not what he wants, he cuts bait and leaves to find the perfect situation. He is a very insecure and unstable person when it comes to things like this.
He left Michigan St. because he could not compete against Michigan.
He left LSU because he was afraid he would never have the NFL chance, even though he was very happy.
He left Miami because he was afraid of failing and losing his reputation.
The man is driven by fear. Right now, he is afraid of being stuck in the strange, sick football culture of Alabama and has already realized it is not where any sane person would want to be.
He came to this conclusion after sitting in that tiny boat with Finebaum and listening to his show for about 30 minutes one day.

Just like when RR left WVU there was a lot of Saban buzz too? I mean he's from WV so I'm sure he'd love to coach there. It's gonna take more than an "insider" with "sources" on a LSU message board to scare me.
If he did leave after next year, it'd be full meltdown mode for Bama fans.

That would be hilarious. He'd get there just in time to fall to 0-4 (after this year's loss in Tiger Stadium) against LSU.

I think there is truth to what you say.
Personally I think the vast majority of the Gump fan base is stellar. I have made that trip 5 times, am 5-0, and have never had a bad time with their fans even in defeat.
But their wacky 10% is actually 25% and almost certifiably insane. I don't think The Little Teacup knew the extent of the lunacy when he signed on. The single thing he hates the MOST, is the "shortcut". And they ALL want to take it.
And Emmert, his trusted friend, the man who MADE him, holds the keys to the PERFECT situation.

Pimp, Emmert being at Washington is the key to all of this. Saban also knows that he does best coaching teams that wear purple & gold.

What makes you think he isn't happy now? B/c of his rants at reporters? He was sweet to them at LSU right? Mich St? Miami?
Hmm. Let's see if we can find anything that all those different jobs he held have in common. If he's just as happy at Alabama as he has been everywhere else during his career, then...?
Posted on 7/30/08 at 12:14 pm to Nuts4LSU
Maybe he's miserable at Alabama, so therefore he'll stay.
Posted on 7/30/08 at 12:14 pm to Lsupimp
Agreed. And if people don't think Saban has looked into this, then they are crazy. Remember when Saban came here he said he had notes on the last couple years of LSU football because he was targeting the job. This was before the LSU job was open. It would be silly to think that he hasn't done this for UW with Emmert up there...

I actually agree. Most Bama fans are good and decent people. But that strange, kooky, insane minority is more vocal there than anywhere else I know of. THAT and the boosters and hangers on that get their identity from Alabama football is the problem there and it will not go away anytime soon.
But yes, I would never disparage the vast majority of Bama fans. Most are really good people.

At no time since he joined Alabama has Saban seemed happy. It's almost depressing to watch.
Maybe that's why he wore purple ties to SEC Media Days - U-Dub's colors are purple and gold, aren't they? (Another similarity to LSU '99...)
It would be interesting if he bolted after this year and took the job at U-Dub, because we play there to open 2009. Ah the intrigue!

And it doesn't matter how much he denies it. The Gump fans need to remember that Saban is a PROVEN LIAR!!!
