Did you watch them last year? That team was Bipolar throughout the regular season then played lights out in the NCAA Tourney. They essentially have the same roster with a couple of Blue Chip players to replace the ones they lost
If by a couple you mean about 5.
And they already look a bit better than they did at this point last season. They lost pretty much all of their major OOC matchups except Louisville (Baylor, North Carolina, Michigan State). I'm not sure how you can't differentiate between their performance thus far this season, especially against a Top 10 team, and last season.

This is what I was trying to say. This team as of now looks better than last years team who seemed unfocused and out of sync at times last year throughout the entire season. They changed personalities once the tourney began

Ask me after they play Pitino and Co. That'll be the best benchmark of whether they can handle a good one.
UNC will be a better benchmark. UNC does press, and plays up-tempo basketball. And will likely be better than Louisville this year.

I'll have to agree to disagree. Pitino pretty well has perfected the press at UofL. Even his non Top 10 teams have pressed well. I hate the swarmy bastard, but he's still the benchmark when it comes to pressing IMO.

Oh, I'm not saying his teams aren't good at pressing. The reason I substituted UNC is that they are also good at it, but, more importantly, they'll probably be a better team this year, so you have the press + the better opponent to test Kentucky's resilience.

My counter to that would be UK/UofL is a huge rivalry game. UofL could have a losing record and would bring it for that game. Not that UNC wouldn't, just saying that combined with the press it'll be just as good a matchup at UNC.
Even though naturally I hope UK wins going away. By 40.

Rivalry games matter, true. UK should be able to out-talent UL while UL should out-coach UK (no disrespect to Calipari but I consider Pitino the best coach in the country in his own element.) It should be an interesting game to watch, as (almost) always.

You realize Cal has lost one game to Rick since he has been at UK (2 NCAA games as well). So head to head, seems like Cal out coaches Rick.

quote:What I think he is trying to say is will they be playing their best basketball at the end of the season. Yes, they will play great OOC competition in November and December, but what happens if they get into a lull playing the weak SEC competition? Could they get relaxed and end up losing to a good team? It happens every year.
They already played adequate competition and beat them by 30 points. I mean, is the #5 team in the nation adequate? You do know they play OOC games?

I don't know why people are so quick to bring this up like it actually matters. If its so true then why has the sec (OK, UK and UF...) done so well in the tourney. Why have the ACC and B1G done so poorly comparatively? Teams that make a habit of playing down to competition don't win national championships. Period. In the end, it won't matter and it never has. People just want their shitastic basketball program to somehow have a stake in the champion or would-be champion I think is what's really going on.

Aren't they top-25? Also, aren't they coached by Larry Brown?

The only concern should be a bad game during the Tournament. Sure, they might lose a game here or there, but anyone who thinks they aren't the frontrunner to win the Ship is crazy. I can honestly think of 3 teams who might have a chance right now. Wisconsin and Wichita St have the leadership and defense that can give kentucky fits. Duke has the best coach in college bball history, and two freshman who are better than kentucky's freshman.

40-0 print the t-shirts!
Wait, didn't that happen last year?
But at least last year that great UK team won the SEC championship and the SEC tourney? What they didn't? How was that possible?

Oh no. That National Championship Runner Up sucked man. Bad. Just awful.
Freud would love the Florida fans around here with their penis envy.

So now UK is bragging of being runner ups. How many championships did UK win last year? UF had 2, SEC regular season champs and SEC tourney champs and a final four appearance. Oh, and beat UK 3 times. suck on that for while since you bring up penises.
It will shock me if UK does any better this year, teams win championships, not great individual players.

Arkansas survived a middle of the road SMU team

UFMatt is extremely rustled.

I thought Florida was past the dick measuring with Kentucky to gain relevance? Clearly not.
Well then why hasn't Billy won more than two with the same group if it's so easy with a "team"?

Oh but they have. For all their basketball prowess the B1G and ACC have a lot of terrible showings in the tourney.
