You CANNOT lose to shitty teams more than once and/or get blown out at home. That’s the common denominator here.

Teams out:
Bama: Vandy “road” (bad), OU road (bad), Tenn road (okay)

Ole Miss: Kentucky home (bad), Florida road (bad), lsu road (okay)

USC: Bama road (bad because you blew it), lsu road (okay because you were maybe robbed), ole miss at home (this game killed you)

Teams in:
Texas: uga twice lol (okay) they’re soft

Tennessee: Arkansas road (bad), uga road (okay)

Uga: Bama road (okay maybe bad), ole miss road (okay)

Conclusion. Don’t lose to shitty teams or get killed home.

You go to the playoffs.

Edit: the more I’m thinking about this.

The SEC has had the benefit of allowing two of these things to happen and still be considered but just not three.

I think this applies to the whole country but we can afford two losses where everyone else only afford one unless your Ohio state and then who knows.

The SOS is baked in under this logic too

Better to win ugly vs tech than lose ugly vs OU.

Well tough guy, if UGA lost, they’d have a bad home loss and probably in the not in category. My theory still holds since they…didn’t lose.

But...and this is key...UGA won.

Take a lap

According to the board, this is probably the worst loss of the season. Can’t imagine losing to a Bama team that didn’t make the playoff

Imagine not scoring a touchdown on a team that LSU handled fairly easily this year.

Got that picture in your head?

A loss to Bama this year is about 1/3 that bad.

Or just play in a terrible conference with a weak schedule, lose to the only good team you play and profit.

USC and Ole Miss each have more wins over ranked teams than Indiana, SMU, Clemson and Boise St combined. And the only ranked win they have among them is because 2 of them played each other last night.

All made the playoffs, Boise St with a 3rd seed and a bye.

By your standards, the SEC will rarely get more than 3 teams in.

Can’t lose to teams you should beat.

I saw Alabama score a TD, and then I saw the refs make the worst call of the year.

Hell, I saw Milroe score 2 of them.

This strategy worked for Texas.

Nike and Oregon solution. Spend a gazillion dollars on players.

Alabama should join the MAC and then they can get the auto-bid every year. Maybe even a bye like Boise! Why don’t they do it? The MAC would take Alabama in an instant.

TBH, if I never see Milroe score another collegiate TD, I would be happy.

I think he just scored another on my Tigers as I typed this.
