“There is no credibility in anonymous sources,” Muschamp said. "If that former staffer had any guts, why didn’t he put his name on that? I think that’s gutless. ... In any football team, especially right here in August, you can find a disgruntled player that’s probably not playing. So I think it’s a lack of journalistic integrity to print things with anonymous sources.”

I see both sides. Reporters with an agenda can destroy people with little to no impunity using "anonymous sources". On the other hand, anonymous sources are often vital to breaking power structures that are objectively detrimental.

Plus the school wouldn’t suspend/fire Muschamp’s buddy without their own verification of events.

This is just a dumb move on Will’s part.

I agree that anonymous sources are trash, but someone died. It's best to keep your mouth shut so your priorities don't look fricked up.

^This. Bryant not only got away with such tactics in Junction, he built a winner. If any coach tries that today, he gets the ax.

I think most of the things in the ESPN story are much ado about nothing, but anytime a kids death is tied to the actions of Durkin or Durkin staff, that is beyond dumb to defend Durkin with zero qualifiers.

This makes sense.

But, he's defending murderers .... Poor choice.

You don’t have enough disaffection to be a Gen Xer.

Probably because the staffer knows most coaches are pushing their athletes past what most would consider as safe and they’d still like to work in the future.

Yeah but most coaches are smart enough to not stick their neck out for each other. They just build in big buyouts into their contracts for that. It’s like coach speak, it’s what is expected of you.

Only USeCond fans defend this sort of behavior from a coach.
