You think Georgia has a better recruiting area than Florida? That’s comical. Also, Clemson and Auburn technically aren’t in the same state, but they are definitely close enough to UGA to make a difference.

Could tell by his pregame comments they weren’t ready. He talked about how it wasn’t that big a deal, another game, no different than other SEC East games.
UF has never won the SEC East in a year they have lost the WLOCP.

I hope UF fires him after a 8 wins season next year. I hope we fire Joe after a 5 win season next year. I hope we hire Dan.

Stubborn coach who won't fire his friends and is a lazy recruiter as well.
Not a winning combo.

He's a better between the lines coach than Smart.
This tired line took a big hit yesterday. 4th and inches/5 wide. Down 14, no need to hurry in the 4th.

We'll see this off-season.
Grantham needs to leave.
Hevesy's O line has sucked all season.

In fairness....I think their entire Oline is made up of freshmen and sophomores. Not sure.
They are almost all upperclassmen but have been benchwarmers. Not a lot of talent there.

Hard to believe this guy coached with Meyer for so long and has that type of attitude towards rivals and recruiting.
Wonder what his record was vs Ole Miss

Butterteeth left that team a mess. I think he's doing a good job building them back up.

Played right into Kirby's hands. Bend but don't break, allow UF to burn the clock, then convert one first down for the win.

With Franks playing yesterday, UGA wins by 30+.
The fact that Franks was starting over Trask when Trask was healthy is a big red flag.
That and the lack of recruiting. If he doesn't recruit better, hes out at UF within 3-4 years.
Yes.
But 3-4 years from now or since he was hired?
I would love to see y’all keep him for another 3-4 years.

I've heard that rumor but never seen it substantiated.
The “rumor” was started by Houston Nutt and his staff at Ole Miss when we hired Mullen. They used it as negative recruiting in the Bible Belt to say he couldn’t be trusted with their children. It worked too

I admit I said to my UGA friends at the sports honky tonk "Boys that might be the dumbest shite 4th and inches call I've seen". He admitted he couldn't block Georgia's dl but we already knew that since he basically has no OL this year. But then something happened and he had to huddle and come back to the line after giving UGA time to get a defense in to defend 5 wides and lined right back up in the same formation. That was strange but Florida is short handed and at the mercy of the schools with players like UGA.
But between the lines is not play calling. It's mostly practice and prep for the season and games and getting your players better. With the runaway talent gap between those two Georgia shoulda won by 25-30. Mullen has impacted Florida's physical nature and has his team competing with teams with better players.

No shite Sherlock. He had freaking State, yes State number one in the nation at one point. He'll win at Florida. The only thing that concerns me is he kinda sorta seems to let recruiting "take care of it's own self". Which would indicate he is quite an arrogant son of a gun and thinks he can take his and beat yours or take yours and beat his.

I can hear it now... We need to fire that dude because he’s a Scientologist.

I love this thread, because everyone is starting to see the same things in Mullen that we saw at State. He is a good coach, but he isn't elite, and he is not worth $6+M.
His recruiting is questionable, but he is good at recognizing talent in players that others don't see, and he will coach those guys up to squeeze maximum effort from them. That's why UF was instantly better when Mullen got there.
It's his gameday coaching that I never could stand, and he always nutted up in big games. "Big game" is a subjective term, and it probably means something a little different at UF than at MSU, but we saw it over and over.
He doesn't have the team prepared for the big stage. He has a gameplan that doesn't necessarily play to his team's strengths, and when that gameplan doesn't work he panics and has not Plan B. His time management, even in little games, sucks.
And several times we have seen him down by 2 scores late in the game, only to go on a long, time consuming driver to get a late TD with no time left to attempt an actual comeback. Anyone can throw short passes against a defense playing soft to avoid the quick scores.
The difference he may find at Florida is that he can go into some of those "big games" with enough talent to actually compete, and maybe over time he will learn to treat those like regular games and actually have a shot to win one. If UF will give him time to get there.
And, regarding which QB should be playing, Mullen will always go with his upperclassmen over the new guys. Never fails.
