MSU was 1 of only 11 P5 teams to make a bowl game in every season of the last decade...

The list includes:
1. Virginia Tech
2. Georgia
3. Oklahoma
4. LSU
5. Wisconsin
6. Alabama
7. Clemson
8. Oklahoma State
9. Texas A&M
10. Mississippi State
Thank you Mullen, athletic department, fans, SEC Network $$$, and everyone/everything else involved.
Mississippi State has built a foundation of consistency over the last decade that has set the table for Mike Leach to take Mississippi State from the category of relevent to the category of contender.
It happened so slowly, but steadily, that not many realized what was going on in real time, but when you step back and look at the big picture over a span of 10 years, it's clear MSU has changed it's reputation as a football program.
It's so nice to not suck anymore. It's OK Ole Miss fans, I remember what it felt like. Pro tip, you can't just decide that after going 6-6 and winning the Birmingham Bowl that you are a top 5 program because the Grove is the 8th wonder of the world. In other words, a shitty team can't cheat there way to relevance(except Clemson)... in one year a program doesn't go from having the #50 ranked recruiting class and a losing record, to the #3 recruiting class in the country without cheating at a level not seen since SMU's heyday.
Ole Miss fans are like little bratty spoiled children, they see someone else with something and tell mommy he wants it NOW. Mommy says, "No, you can be a good boy and wait til Christmas, or you can work around the yard and make the money to buy it yourself."
Little Toddler Reb throws a fit, kicking, screaming and yelling, "Christmas is 8 months away and working in the yard takes time and effort, I want it NOWWWW, I deserve it NOWWWW."
Mommy says "No, go outside and work and I'll take you to the mall when you are done."
So he walks outside, straight over to the neighbor girl's yard, steals her barbie dream house, and tells mommy that he found it in the woods behind the house when he was picking up sticks.
Mommy clearly sees what has happened, takes it from him, gives it back to the neighbor girl and grounds the kid for a month. After the month of grounding is up, the kid walks out and see's the neighbor girl playing with the doll house, he still wants it, even more now, and takes it again, thinking, "surely i won't get in trouble since I JUST finished my month of being grounded, I deserve it, I'm a good kid because I say I am, and I deserve a grace period".
Mommy sees it in his room later that day, and this time she doesn't know what to do with the brat, so she sends him off to Military Camp, in hopes that he can learn to understand what it means to work for something instead of just taking it because you want it and think you deserve it.
Maybe if y'all decide to do things the right way, and build a foundation of consistency over a long period of time, you too can know what it feels like to not suck. With all the Ole Miss fans that were around in the 50's and 60's transitioning from living to dead(damn you COVID), you will have to create some new memories of being good at college football.
I will say, Lane Kiffin has proven time and time again he knows exactly how to take a traditional P5 cellar dweller and turn them into annual contenders, I'm sure he will get you there in no time.
Wait... no, that's Mike Leach I'm thinking of, oops. Lane Kiffin has proven time and time again that he knows exactly how to take a traditional P5 powerhouse and turn them into annual cellar dwellers for atleast a decade after he is gone. What happens when he takes over a traditinoal P5 cellar dweller? Only time will tell.
Maybe the 2030's will be a good decade for the Rebs?

Yeah well most programs have too much pride to accept a bowl invite when they went 5-7.

Now State has a noose around its neck.
Its finished. Its over.

There is something to be said about not completely sucking, especially when its over multiple coaches.

God damn
Can you imagine being not only excited but proud of Mississippi State’s football record?
I mean pop your bird chest out like a fat robin in the field proud.
This dude is Aggie level delusional or just plane trolling hard. Maybe he is using self deprecation as a means of making a joke or something because I just can’t see anything about Mississippi State that anyone can be chest beating about other than one year when Dak played pretty well and won the Dallas job. Other than that, Mississippi State is the model of mediocracy. Proud of 7-8 win seasons and shite bowl appearances is good enough for a Mississippian, I guess.

It is unrealistic for every fan base to have a "title or bust" mentality in College football. Miss State has historically been the worst or second worst program in the conference.
They deserve to celebrate rising above that.
They deserve to celebrate rising above that.

Ohio state hasn’t missed a bowl since ‘nam... But I’m sure all your other facts are excellently researched... especially with a degree from Mississippi lol

Well I guess so. I guess it’s Arkansas’ turn to be in the shitter.
State is better than Ole Piss and they have done well against the Aggies lately so I guess they have that going for them.

Auburn fan right? lets look at a comparison of Auburn and Mississippi since 2011...
Average Recruiting ranking:
Auburn- #11
Miss State- #27
Amount of 4 & 5 stars signed:
Auburn- 139
Miss State- 46
NFL draft picks:
Auburn- 38
Miss State- 34
Overall record:
Auburn- (73-45)
Miss State- (70-47)
SEC record:
Auburn- (37-35)
Miss State- (34-38)
Bowl Game appearances:
Miss State- 9
Auburn- 8
Head to head record
Auburn leads 5-4
Take the recruiting stuff out, and you got two programs that are VERYYY comparable over the last decade on paper. It's undeniable. Auburn gets 3 times more blue chip talent than MSU but is a only a wheatie better where it matters, on the field.
So if you are suggesting MSU still sucks, what does that say about Auburn? There is only 1 school that is more delusional than Ole Miss, and that's Auburn, although it is close.

Sorry, you're right. There were 11 schools that made a bowl every season of the decade, 10 were P5, the other was Boise State. Excuse my error

Now compare SEC and National Titles.

Wow
Since you put it like that, I got to say that State has either definitely gotten a lot better or Auburn Has really started sucking bad as of late. It’s hard for me to notice. We beat Auburn 70% of the time at their house and every time they play in Death Valley for the last forever.

Division titles:
Auburn- 3
Mississippi State- 0
Conference titles:
Auburn- 2
Mississippi State- 0
National Title appearances:
Auburn- 2
Mississippi State- 0
National Titles:
Auburn- 1
Mississippi State- 0 (not just in football over the last decade, but in any scholarship team sport in all of human history)
Yes, Mississippi State still sucks
You can't just leave off literally the only thing that matters in sports, Championships, and call programs comparable. Only a Mississippi State fan would be that willfully ignorant
All non Mississippi State fans find it hilarious that y'all are delusional enough to think ylal belong in these kind of discussions.

Auburn signed 139 4 and 5 stars and had 38 draft picks, that's 1 out every 3.65 4/5 stars drafted.
MSU signed 46 4/5 stars and had 34 draft picks, that's 1 out of every 1.35 4/5 stars drafted.

I'll give you your division and conference titles, Auburn knows how to parlay luck into a miracle. Cam Newton won a national title in 2010, not Auburn, the 2013 year was the most absurd thing I've ever seen, no one team will ever get that lucky in one season, better yet one decade. That team was a fart and a sneeze from being 8-4.
But answer me this, with all those titles, all that history, all those 4 and 5 stars, why did you only have 3 more total wins, 4 more draft picks, 1 more head to head win and 1 less bowl appearance than MSU since 2011?
I'll answer, because other than 1-2 years and a ton of luck, they weren't any better than MSU. It's just true.
