He does this a lot. Its weird as shite to me and quite condescending.

There are less than 20 presidential libraries in the united states and msu has one of them. Seems pretty interesting to me anyways.

Well seeing as how I’ve never been a part of nor have I ever known anyone who was a part of the Confederacy, doesn’t seem all that weird to me.

The VAST majority of the current USA arrived in the USA during or after the War of Northern Aggression. The population of immigrants starting at that time and ending after WW II is pretty astounding. Amazing what finding gold in California and Alaska did for Immigration today. The Irish, Poles, Italians, Russians, etc, etc. of that age were the issue of the time the way the Southern border is now.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Apparently, SIU was letting the stuff rot away and the MSU professor was just appalled by it. SIU fought it for a minute, then agreed to give it up.

So we went from the War of Northern Aggression to the Diplomacy of Southern Appreciation!?

There may be hope for Merica after all!

Maybe so, but I think this is an interesting fact. It is like the Trump Library being built in San Francisco or Portland. Oil & water.

It is true that I do not always wear maroon glasses. Sorry that bothers you.

But this goes beyond sports affinity. Grant devastated Mississippi and burned the state's capital city. I find it weird that his presidential library is in Starkville. As another poster stated, Missouri or Illinois makes more sense, and I added the context that Southern Illinois once hosted the collection and how it ended up at MSU.

If this one professor had been hired by LSU, it would possibly be in Baton Rouge. There is no connection to Mississippi State other than a Grant historian worked in the history department and went through the proper channels.

I think its wonderful that they are building the dedicated library and the location is prime real estate. Everyone that passes through campus will see it.

When our SEC brethren come to campus for a guaranteed win because our administration flopped NIL and our football team is destined for decades of futility, maybe they will have nice things to say about our Presidential Library. I know that's what is important to a lot of MSU fans - that the rest of the SEC likes us.

Probably the most important thought on the subject

Of course we do, your fans have historically been the coolest to hang with. A visit to Starkville is lost on destinations if you never bother to hang with the people.

Without reading the thread or any context…..an MSU fan being weirded out by a library is the least surprising thing ever.

This would never happen as they are already in a long term relationship with and even bigger villain to Southerners in Bill Sherman.

Only a Mississippian would get this mad about reading.

Edited: low point in life. Beat by pank to a joke.

The fall down drunk that starved the good people of Vicksburg, reinstated George T Sherman after his nervous breakdown and turned Jackson, MS into a Chimneyville. I will admit a modern day Jackson campaign might actually benefit my home state but it still makes MSU look like pussy arse, boot lickers. I call em like I see em.

Learn some history and you might see why. Being bombarded and starved in a siege leaves scars that don’t heal quickly. The surrender of Vicksburg happened on the 4th of July. Any other day and the 4th would have celebrated there like everywhere else.
BTW, anyone who hasn’t visited the National Military Park at Vicksburg is missing something special.
