Why not interview Paul Johnson if that's their angle? Not a troll BTW...the guys knows the option offense.
Because Paul Johnson refuses to recruit or give two shites about anything BUT his option offense, which is why he failed.

Ask Georgia Tech how that turned out.
The first few years, they did very well with it, even backed into an ACC CG.
But once all the other teams started practicing for it and planning against it, they got shut down.
It would get shut down even quicker in the SEC defensive arena.
Just look at how a mediocre Georgia was able to shut that shite down 8/10 years.
I don't know what the answer is for MsSt, but the Triple Option is not it.
I hated that shyt with a passion, but the geek-nerd-loser segment of the GT Fanbase loved it because they liked the connection to the Service Academies and they loved being different for the sake of being different
They think that GT is forever tethered to recruiting the lesser Athlete, and this was GT's only way to compete

Really need Tech to be competitive again. The vaccuum let lesser programs like UGA and Clemson to have success.

God I hope Piss State goes to the triple option, cementing themselves as a bottom dweller.

The Tripl-Oh already scares away talent, why would any AD want that for their FB Program in the SEC where Talent is the most important variable in helping your team win
Not once did I suggest a triple option is the offense you should use in the future.I just suggested you should interview CPJ IF
that's the direction your want to go in.
I honestly don't know what your fan base expects for the program or the politics but I would think you need to do something
unconventional to compete given the circumstances/realities of MSU.

The option absolutely can work with a good recruiter.
Why is it difficult to find a good recruiter for the option? Because the service academies run it and they are the highest level of coaches for that offense. Those arent the type of coaches who recruit football players against other schools.
Get a recruiter (not a numbnuts like johnson) and the offense/team can be successful.

Exactly. People act like the offense at Tech is the reason PJ got fired. The reason is they had Ted Roof as DC and recruited defensive players at the same level as South Alabama or MTSU.
I'm not saying you should do it, but if a guy comes in and can put a semi competent defense on the field and recruit defensive players at a semi-decent level it could work.

Agreed.
But the best coach for the job would probably be "the best high school coach". You probably arent going to get a stud recruiter from the service academies.
The triple option is viable. But finding the coach is like snipe hunting.

Yep - I'd be very curious to hear what Monken's pitch is. He's a very smart, analytics driven, ahead of the curve guy. I have to imagine he's had a plan to sell to P5 schools on why he can be successful there.

Who was that powerful AU alumnus that made Chizik hire that guy from Troy?

It was actually the 2nd best of David Carrs 5 years as a starter. One of only 2 years he posted a passer rating over 80 instead of under 70

That’s um...underwhelming
Should just hire Bill Clark

Calhoun would be a homerun if he can recruit. Got to spend an afternoon talking southern football with him while we were filming a doc, he would love to coach sec level athletes at the college level. Don’t have any idea if he would leave the AFA.

It was an idiotic decision to bring that garbage to GT, and if it didn't work in the Metro ATL with tons of Talent it won't work in some backwards shythole like Stark Vegas
Not really, it's the reason you went to the Orange Bowl, and partially the reason you won it.

HS football in MS is getting better because of better coaching. The material is there and always has been.

All MSU has to do is stay on top of Ole Miss and Arkansas. State can beat A&M and Auburn 50 percent of the time with competent coaching.

I like the idea of someone with experience in an option system coming in, so long as the coach is smart enough to adapt and be more versatile. The State brand is to play physical football, running and stopping the run. It’s the type of athlete we draw; it’s who we are.
