Because the SEC is attempting to spread its footprint to the very edge of its boundaries to capture recruits and television markets... what do y'all think of perhaps moving the SEC Championship game out of Atlanta for a year or two?
This has been debated for years, but there is no way it will ever be moved. LSU fans have said for a long time that it should rotate between Atlanta and New Orleans, but geography dooms that hope. When there were 12 teams, all six in the East, plus Alabama and Auburn in the West, were closer to Atlanta than to New Orleans, so they wanted it to stay there. Even if both new members supported moving it to some western city, the 8 teams who want to keep it in Atlanta would still be a majority (and that's even assuming that Arkie, MSU and Ole Miss want to move it, which might not be true).

I think it would be really neat to see the game outdoors at a place like Kansas City, or in Dallas. In Dallas it would probably end up at Jerry World, but being from Dallas, I think it would be even cooler to have it at the Cotton Bowl. Have it outdoors, and poach Texas/OU's tradition...
They would probably be concerned about weather issues for a December game outdoors, especially in Kansas City but also in Dallas. Even Birmingham, which hosted the first two SECCGs, had weather issues.

KC will never be SEC country.

I think the SEC Championship in ATL is perfect. Great location IMO.

I like it right where it has always been.

Arlington is not Dallas.
Who gives a crap. Texas is pretty much a foreign country and nobody cares where the city limits of Dallas are and where Arlington's start. It is all Dallas.
It is like people from Hoover getting mad when people call it Birmingham. Guess what: It is Birmingham.

I would like to see the game move around some. Could be pretty cool to move it around on a rotation like
NO
ATL
Nashville
Could be really cool. I really like LP field in Nash. It seats 68,800 which is virtually the same as the GaDome (71,200). The first week in December would be a cold MF'n day though.

Trust me, as an ACC alum and fan, when I say that the concept of a rotating championship game blows.
It is nicer than you know to have Atlanta be your constant objective year in and year out.

I could see it taking away from the pageantry of the game for sure. Kinda waters it down.

I agree completely. In an earlier post I said I like the "tradition" of one location, but I think you stated it better: a constant objective to get to Atlanta.

Y'all keep mentioning "weather issues". Who cares about weather issues? That's why outdoor stadiums > indoor stadiums.

I think there is a difference between regular season and bowl season. There is also a difference between Sept.-Nov. weather, and weather in Dec./January.
The fact is for a bowl game it is later in the year, and the people going are more likely to place a premium on comfort (in general an older, more affluent crowd). IMO, any city w/o a dome is at a big disadvantage for hosting a championship game or bowl.

I don't know where this discussion went, but the SEC has a winning formula for the SEC CG. I think they should do what they think is best. If that is keeping the game in Atlanta, so be it.

screw that. it should be in the capital of the southeast and that is ATLANTA. i don't think the college world series should be moved or the Indy 500 or the Washington Monument. we are still the SOUTHEASTERN confernce.

WTF? is this a mysterious aggie term? perhaps you have to be an upperclassman to be able to do this poopslaping ritual?

OP reminds me of the new kid who just moved into town. Sits on the front row of his first class and then lets a fart.
