I would hate to have it in an MLB park. I’d rather a smaller Minor League Park, where it’ll pretty much be a sellout, or close to it. Minor League parks are perfect stadiums for SEC baseball games.

But minor league parks don’t have domes, which seems to be everyone’s problem with Hoover.

The need better leadership to anticipate and problem solve better. But again, this year is an outlier as far as rain delays go. This is by far the worst I can remember

yea....it sorta does, especially to the players. It's about playing on a big stage. You can't honestly think that these player view playing at the Hoover met on SEC network on the same level as they do playing TD ameritrade in the CWS on ESPN.

My main point is that SEC baseball has gotten big and outgrown little charming Hoover and it's met. SEC baseball is big time ball and these kids deserve a big stage for the conference tourney. Football gets Mercedes benz stadium in ATL, basketball has gotten bridegstone in Nashville and Tampa recently and baseball gets.....the little Hoover met? That sucks for them. And that's not even addressing the fact that these weather delays could be avoided

Yeah this year was definitely an outlier. There will always be a couple of rain delays during the SEC tournament, but that’s just the reality of baseball in the south, during May and June. To me, it isn’t college baseball without a rain delay or two. Regionals and supers will be just as bad. You definitely don’t make a knee jerk reaction based on one year of the tourney.

I think the contract is up this year. I'm curious if they'll renew or bid it out for 2023.

But putting the kids in a big empty ballpark in Texas doesn’t make it a big stage. Hell, Hoover isn’t exactly busting at the seams with attendance as is.

And of course they don’t view playing in Hoover the same as playing in Omaha, but trying to pretend there isn’t history and tradition here is just plain wrong.
The people wanting to move from hoover are probably the same people that bitch about tiger stadium and the box having empty seats. They blame it on corporatism and getting rid of charm and tradition, while wanting to move from the charm and tradition of hoover to a corporate dome…

There are many really nice minor league parks, ie. Frisco. I have not made a trip to Hoover, but would definitely support the tourny if it were in Frisco from time to time.

I believe you’re right. I think they’re going to move it. I hate to see old traditions going away, but that’s just the nature of college athletics today.

I think they should rotate between OKC, Nashville, Pensacola, and maybe Augusta or somewhere in the eastern part of the conference?

Does the minor league park in Frisco have a dome? Or does it never rain in frisco? Because if either of those answers are no, the folks that started this thread will be trying to move on from there at some point…

I would absolutely support moving it from Hoover, but after having been in the rain in Dallas this week (hundreds of flights canceled and most delayed @ DFW & Love), frick that weather argument for Dallas.

Nashville, Atlanta or even rotating annually to some of the larger SEC venues make more sense than Dallas.

Yea, it seems people are talking out of both sides of their mouths, wanting it moved from Hoover because of weather, but suggesting a rotation of cities without a dome stadium.

Right as a matter of fact it feels pretty empty.... so why not at least play in a cool major leauge stadium that can control all these God awful rain delays in a destination city?

Ok so Hoover =/= Omaha.... like I said.

Big difference in not wanting your home on campus stadium to not turn into a billboard and luxury box than wanting your conference tourney played at a modern site in a destination city.

I'd like a domed stadium. But honestly moving it anywhere else that would at least be a stadium and city upgrade would be a plus imo

Should be in Atlanta every year just like football.

You are way overestimating the number of people who are going to make major travel plans for a conference baseball tournament. Having it close to most teams, with a ton of RV parking, and unlimited entertainment for kids is what makes Hoover such a good site.

That along with the tradition of it being here for 24 years

The issue with that has always been RV parking. I know when they considered Memphis a few years ago, they said they would have to RV park 20 minutes away and run shuttles. Hoover has a huge RV lot next door, and an awesome rec center for families adjacent to the stadium

Sorry if I deviated from OP. Frisco is not domed, I think it should be rotated regardless of domed stadium.

I’m not opposed to it being moved, but Hoover gets a ton of hate mostly from people who have never been here.

I’ve been to 3 national championships, tons of bowl games, and honestly, the trip to Hoover every year is the one me and my son look forward to most. It is such a fun family friendly atmosphere when you get here. If they move to some Corporate stadium where they charge ridiculous prices for everything, I think it will hurt the event.

And if you want to move it from Hoover for a bigger, more lively city, that’s fine, but these folks calling for it to be moved to a dome because of a once in 20 year weather situation are just knee jerk reacting

For all the complaining about weather, if they would’ve started the Florida game at 8 this morning, they probably could’ve gotten it in without a drop of rain…

Honestly I get that argument.... super valid. But I still think a balance can be struck and we don't have to be tied to Hoover forever just because of tradition.

Also agree...as I said... a place w more control for that would be ideal, but not the main reason I think we should look elsewhere.
