One of the biggest hits of all time. Both guys get credit as savages because they both ran right into it.

I hate to say it as a Bama fan.... but the most savage hit ever is Darwin Holt's hit to Chick Graning. All you youngsters need to look it up... Not only did it break his jaw, nose, and knock out 5 teeth... but made G.T.'s arse quit the sec!

Not the most savage but it deserves a mention. Especially since it's against them.

In the 2009 Bama vs Ole Miss game Rolando McClane knocked Dexter McCluster out cold. Was just a brutal hit.

Clowney hitting the Michigan RB was probably the most devastating in modern times (meaning last 20 years).

I remember seeing that live, because LSU was curb stomping bama at the same time. That is the most savage play IMO.

Has anybody mentioned the Anthony Dixon run vs Houston?

The guy was literally dragging Houston’s defenders all the way to the end zone

I have to say, that hit on Murray was awesome and it was completely legal and it's so funny how Dawg fans get all arse-hurt about it.

Now that was hard hit. Like two cars hitting head on.

Junior Rosegreen hit on Reggie Brown. I was at the game and thought he was dead. Targeting did not exist in those days.

This is the hit I first thought of when I read the thread title. I was watching this live and thought "Oh f*ck, I hope Junior didn't kill him."

Second one I thought of was Clowney.

I've also got a Brandon Jacobs play in my head. Will see if I can find it.

Quincy Wilson bulldozes Miami defender, hurdles him and scores a TD. Best gif quality I could find

The Darwin Holt (Bama) hit on Chuck Granning (GT) way before my time (early 60's) and it ended the Bama/GT series and
Bobby Dodd and Bear rarely talked afterword.

quote:

Holt hit Graning, rising off his feet as he drove his arm up under the taller Tech player's face guard. Graning was helped off the field with injuries diagnosed later as 1) fracture of the alveolar process (facial bones), 2) five missing upper front teeth, 3) fracture of the nasal bone, 4) fracture of the right maxillary sinus and the sinus filled with blood, 5) fracture of the right zygomatic process (bone beneath the right eye), 6) cerebral concussion and 7) possible fracture of the base of the skull

Any gifs from last years A&M/nutria game, little brother?

They are all of referees. Like the completely bogus pass interference that gave Aggie two chances to win.

I remember it live too. It was unbelievable on live tv. The type of thing you've seen before, an offensive player catching a ball in the flat and heading up the sideline, and then all the sudden an absolute train wreck.

I believe the youtube description is right. Ended both of those guy's careers.

Just rare to see two guys moving that fast in operate directions right into each other.

I believe it was a kickoff against Vandy. He busted the wedge and just annihilated the guy.
