I've only been to Ole Miss, Miss.St and Vandy (USM as well but not SEC). Of those Vandy is awful. There's only 3 restrooms in the whole stadium and you have to wait in line. The campus is in the middle of Nashville which means its not picturesque at all and the tailgating would be better at a 4A high school. Their field is plain and unimaginative and poorly lit.

No offense to the Vandy folks here of course, I'm just an honest critic.

i will say tho, that i went to Southern Cal's campus once, and it is dead center in Watts, about 5 minutes from compton, and the campus itself basically sux

UCLA on the other hand was impressive

The area outside of USC is actually really scary.

Seriously? Then you have never been to Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt has a gorgeous campus.

No sir, I went to see the Rebs play there this year. There's a hospital right there on campus (of course) and the buildings show no real architectural pizzaz. I didn't find much room for tailgating either. Just a few grassy lots with short trees. Perhaps there are parts I didn't get to see.

Again, if that's what you really think, then LSU is in the same boat. Any city of 200,000 or more is going to have not-so-nice parts to it. However, there's nothing directly around Alabama's campus that would suggest your train of thought.

I accidentally took a wrong turn once and a cop actually stopped me and gave me an escort out of the area. It was the only time I remember actually being worried driving around an area.

UCLA's campus is really nice.

If you ever get a chance to see Pepperdine out there... wow.

I have been to all 12 schools and stadiums. Tennessee and south Carolina are the worst. College campuses don't belong in the middle of a downtown grid.

My top 3 are LSU, Georgia, bama

See, that's what I like about the city of Lexington... and Louisville, for that matter. The violent crime rates are very low for cities of their size.

In Lexington, the ghetto is far less ghetto than most of the other SEC cities.

BR has around 750,000 residents. Very spread out compared to other SEC towns.

This we can agree on and why would it matter anyway? Some of the highest ranked academic institutions are not in the greatest of neighborhoods.

Amen to that. All one has to do is travel the world to realize that we can all be very proud of all our SEC schools. Probably 99.99% of the world would be very happy to live in any of our University towns.

Crime rates are based on per-100,000. So, the size wouldn't necessarily matter. Regardless, I don't have a thing against Baton Rouge. I lived there for a while. I loved it. However, the poster is misinformed about Alabama's campus.
