So just like every other SEC tailgate pretty much….listen, OM was the first to do tailgating right and that’s something to be proud of. Y’all set the standard. In 2021 pretty much everyone does what OM does within the conference. The grove hype is living on the days when they were the only one doing it. And yes, I go to the grove at least once a year. It’s not bad by any means and if you don’t have a good time there you probably suck at life, but it’s not any different than anywhere else in the SEC at this point.

True, but frick those terrorist assholes that attacked us on 9/11.

Tailgating prior to 9/11
…RV’s literally packed the student sidewalks and concourses. Couldn’t walk to class on Thursday or Friday without a free food or beer offer from some alumni.

Then came the restrictive parking bollards, locked campus restrooms and paid reserved tailgating etc.

Love watching that game (been hooked since the Roy Williams Superman game). Hopefully it never moves to Jerryworld.

I was at that one. Still one of the greatest sports moments I've ever seen in person.

LSU tailgating is awesome just don’t wear opposing team colors
True, especially if it's a lady who's noticeably preggo, she'll get the majority of the empty handles thrown at her head and belly.

Also, if you're driving in with a rental car with Texas plates on it, don't park anywhere near the stadium.

I can understand the smart arse comments for all of you try to be funny about it. Just know Aubie doesn’t give a damn what you think! But it’s actually fun and certainly family friendly instead of a bunch of drunks showing their arse, cussing and defacing property, band singing about sucking dicks, burning cars, etc. Kids do enjoy it as well as the fans and you would be surprised at the number of visiting fans who go watch without being asses.

The most irresponsible was allowing TAMU students to created a 6-story bonfire out of logs. The fricking administration should have been jailed.

frick you. Bonfire falling was a tragedy and an extremely complicated situation as to why it fell tragically killing 12 people. Ironically it was the liability fears that led to the teachers and actual engineers no longer supervising it that led to the disaster and most of us had no idea that had even happened. It is the wound that will never truly heal for any Aggie that worked on it and experienced it. I knew one of the guys that died and went to the memorial and I know I had spent many a night building that stack just like he did when I was in school. Up until that point it made all other college traditions pale in comparison.

3 months to build. 8,000 trees all cut by students with an axe (no chainsaws). Built one log at a time. Every group within the school participated from the Corps to Greeks to Independents, just put on your grubs and go to work with fellow Aggies. Then it culminated in a crowd larger than the game standing in a field with a massive build up to lighting it up and enough heat coming off of it to be felt half a mile away.

So much of Aggieland died with Bonfire. They still have the off campus version but it's not even a shadow of the original. This is my last Bonfire as a student. My Corps outfit got the game ball here from Coach Slocum and ran it in relays the 93 miles to Austin to deliver it from the game right as Bonfire started, we ran all night. Running around the inner circle right after it lit was a mind boggling experience.

Go to the 7 minute part of the video to see it lit. You can go to the 15 minute point when RC threw us the ball to go and run it to Austin.

I probably watch that game at least once a month on Youtube. I wish it would move back to ABC.

Again, OU/Texas is the best though. I'm actually interested in hearing the perception of that game from other SEC fans compared to the best SEC rivalries.
I imagine it'll fit right in. I love watching the Egg Bowl, Iron Bowl, UF/FSU, Kentucky/Louisville, SCar/Clem, etc., so what I'm interested in is how many SEC fans will be eager to watch it. I hope the ratings are through the roof, but we'll see.

Doesn't that team with the big ugly longhorn and students wearing slim pants & driving 3 series BMWs...also ring cow bells?

It would be a fairly competitive game of cow bell vs cow bell.

I give the solid edge to the Miss St rednecks vs Austin Prima Donna's in their solid white, tight pants. At least MS is willing to get dirty and even with a losing record....they support their team.

Certainly NOT OU TU game. This is a Dallas and the Cotton Bowl sucks as a venue. These guys have NO CLUE what I true college football tailgate looks like. They prefer to be in Dallas nightclubs and strip clubs as the game day experience!!

If you want to go shopping then I might agree with the OU TU game. If you want a true college football experience, there are so many SEC games to choose from.

LSU fans generally won't let you walk away feeling good about Louisiana in general. Not very welcoming, especially if they lose (very likely this year). I would avoid if you intent to meet any self respecting fans. If you have kids or desire a family friendly environment, avoid at all cost.

Been dying to do the Grove. Self respecting fans for the most part. I hear great things and badly want to go.

A&M and Bama is prob best game this year. The Ags are generally very hospitable. Family oriented and pretty impressive stadium to watch a game. Gets insanely loud.

My personal favorite has actually been visiting Clemson. Up there with the Aggies in terms of how they treat the visit team fans. But this doesn't help with the SEC question.

Yeah bro. Notice only Mississippi state fans trash the grove. The junction is what tailgating looks like at run of the mill U. The grove is the gold standard for tailgating and legendary to college football fans all over the nation.

Haha, it was negligent from the start. Don’t shed liability on others. Still a tragedy but an avoidable one.
