Why would a bird have teeth?

What was with these costumes having eyes looking to the side?

Bevo has always been fine but calling someone his grand-daddy and of course his "custodian" definitely brought the nightmare fuel.

I've always thought the Clemson Tiger Mascot was pretty bad.

I want to thank everyone for contributing to my first post here. It looks like some fun was had. I had no idea there were so many weird and scary looking mascots.
Those images I posted would somehow be even more freaky if they were in crimson color. Here is the same mascot, a person named Melford Epsey, a couple of years later with slightly reshaped ears.
Not too long after this, and still before Big Al, this was the Alabama mascot. It went from being horror movie evil looking to extremely gay looking in the blink of an eye.
Bursting out of a "cocoon", Big Al made his official debut in 1980.
(Oddly enough, the person inside the first Big Al was as student named Hugh Dye, just seven years after Pat Dye left his first job at Alabama.)
