Mississippi hasn’t even started their coaching search yet.

It’s obviously LSU in a landslide. Have you looked at their board the past couple of weeks? You have UF listed as an equal due your personal insecurities around Lane. No idea why you’ve dragged Arky into this conversation.

Props to Auburn for running a very quiet and confident search assuring the announcement is forthcoming but making no claims as to how big a game changer this hire is going to be.
Yep. We are just back here lurking. You will be going about your day one day in the coming weeks and then

Louisiana State and it’s not even close.

This is patiently false info. We are in no need to do such a thing. Until the dominos fall it’s a crap shoot at best. Just let it all play out.

All of them to some degree. The expectations are as out of control as the buyouts. Even wealthy programs cannot afford to shell out this kind of cash every few seasons when a coach fails. The B1G's current private equity fiasco is being driven by programs who were mismanaging their finances. Rumor is that Penn State can't afford to pay Franklin's buyout and renovate their stadium, so they are a major proponent of the private equity proposal, but they aren't alone.
Especially in the SEC with so much talent on every roster, the Big Six are going to have to adjust expectations. We're moving to nine conference games, every team is deeper and better, and the conference added two big players in OU and Texas. There is no longer a reliable path for the big programs to finish with a 7-1 or 8-0 conference record in a good year, or a 5-3 conference record in an off year. We will now absolutely see programs heading to the SEC Championship with 6-3 conference records some years due to the parity.
Now all that said, Penn State is more delusional than any of the SEC programs. Franklin had them in the Playoff a year ago and now they owe the man $54 million and appear to have absolutely nobody lined up to replace him, let alone upgrade from him.

Not to pat ourselves on the back unduly, but I think we're pretty reasonable other than outliers fans. As noted, still time for it to go off the rails.
Our two most prominent names have been our own DC and Sumrall, who is very realistic. The entire insider/writer class has from the outset said Kiffin probably wouldn't be in play, said we probably weren't interested in Franklin. Names like Dilly and Key and Brohm have been discussed, but all are reasonable to attempt and all come with the caveat of the hometown/alma mater issue. Pretty widely discussed inside and outside of Auburn that Drink has a fondness for Auburn, so I don't think that's any particular reach even though I don't think there's a lot of energy there.
Honestly, the last search was similar. We made a play for Kiffin that was about 95% done, and then went for Freeze. Auburn's last two coaching cycles haven't been about unrealistic expectations - we've just made poor hires.

We have fatigue and no insiders. The ones who claim to be we give no heed to their rantings.

It is far and away LSU. They are focused on both Saban and Kiffin and will lose it when somebody else is chosen for the job
