Two camps:

The next tier is:

Georgia
Clemson
LSU

These schools have whipped plenty of blueblood arse

Notre Dame and it’s not even close.

Hell they adjust rules so ND has an easy path to the playoff every year and they aren’t forced to join a college like every other D1 school

Most overrated teams by this site's calculations (since 1989) are:

USC
Texas
Oklahoma
Florida St
Nebraska
Michigan
Notre Dame
Miami

Etc.

Bama is nowhere near the most overrated group. They typically deliver the goods when they are highly ranked.

Yes, I know this isn't exactly what the OP was asking. This is comparing preseason to end of season rankings. It's interesting, regardless.

If Alabama is coddled then why is ND ahead of the right now in the most recent playoff rankings?

Bama played at Georgia and won when Georgia had won like 30 something games in a row at home. Pretty much everyone Bama played in the whole month of October was ranked. Tell me how ND can be ranked ahead of Bama right now considering ND really hasn’t beat many teams with a pulse.

What Bush did would still be against the rules.

If Bama is the most coddled team though why would they need to get in through the back door?
