Which is why the only truly fair way is do away with automatic bids. I don't care if it's 100% human committee or some sort of split with an old BCS type system, just take the top ranked teams and seed from there. The shite where everybody thinks they deserve a seat at the table is ridiculous, not all records are created equally and therefore not all records should be treated as such. I'd also take it a step further and say when it comes time to review for rankings, have clearly defined criteria for how the rankings are determined, then team names should be removed from the data and only provide the metrics that will show who the better teams are. Not sure how else you could remove conceived bias from it.

Well it doesn't take a genius to realize - once you start letting in "good" teams, rather than just "great" teams - the more you piss off. There is a shite ton of "good" teams.

6 or 8 teams would have been perfect, and they had to go straight to 12.
Obviously to maximize the revenue.

An undefeated team will not be left out.. regardless of conference.. and for that reason, this system is better.
If you lose 2-3 games, you don't really have much of an argument. It's a beauty contest at that point and if you don't like it.. you need to look in the mirror and fix your ugly face so that it isn't a problem next time..
Or better yet.. maybe you could just take care of it on the field..
100+ teams can make the playoffs at the beginning of each year.. that's pretty cool imo.. just gotta figure out a way to win the games on your schedule..

There are 134 FBS teams so the 6 left out will still bitch that they should have been in.
Top 6 teams from DII and the 6 left out play-in, so more DII teams can bitch that they should have been in

Anybody with more than one kid, or any type of managerial responsibility knew this would happen. This was never about making people happy. It was about making MONEY.

Actual lyrics from a song he wrote:
Hey little girl is your daddy home?
Did he go away and leave you all alone?
MMM-HMMM, I got a bad desire.
Oh oh oh I'm on fire.
His fans try to say it's about a married woman and the "daddy" is her husband because of the video they did for it. HAH!

Since legitimate money has now infected college FB and it's a minor league version of the NFL, the only way to do this is to go to a 64 team super conference with eight divisions of eight teams. Play every team in the division and schedule five games from the others. Work the schedule like the NFL. Successful teams have a more difficult outside the division schedule following the successful year and less successful teams have an easier schedule.
A 16 team playoff. Take the eight division winners and the next 8 are wildcards similar to the NFL model. This does away with committees, inherent biases, etc.

Bruce Springsteen is nobody’s boss. His music absolutely sux. Money -NIL/transfer anytime you want has ruined the game that we all know.
You can disparage his politics (and I do) but his songwriting is, as recognized as it is, still vastly underrated. The Boss cuts through. Indeed, if he'd stayed out of politics, his songwriting would be recognized more.

Ditching the BCS for this playoff junk and all the conference expansion are complete jokes. The BCS system was fine. I wish it would go back to the bowl system of yesteryear and the SEC only had 10 teams again.

Shane Beamer makes a great point: why play a tough schedule if the committee doesn't care?
Which is why the SEC and Big 10 said 12 best teams. The bleeding hearts had to hold a spot for group of 5. I mean theoretically you could have a 7-4 or 6-5 team take a spot in the conference champ game and win taking up a spot and eliminating a team with a better record and more difficult sos

First off, frick Bruce Springsteen.
Second, I agree with you. The happy median would have been to keep it at 4, but have BCS rankings determine the participants. 12 teams is stupid. I hated listening to the LSU talking heads constantly harp on the playoff. LSU had no business thinking about anything but the game at hand. Same with most other teams in college football. You take it game by game, and if you get there, great. But for the most part, aside from a couple years, teams 5-12 and most of the time, #4 didn’t have any business being on the same field as 1-3. It’s just a participation trophy to get in, at this point. It cheapens the meaning of “getting into the playoffs.” Everyone’s all upset that Alabama got in with three losses, at the 12th spot, but I couldn’t care less, because there shouldn’t even be a 5th spot.

I disagree. We have a conference that has so much more NFL talent and so many good teams, that a team with 2-3 losses still has a reasonable chance of winning it all because they’re better teams than just about anyone else from another conference. But the SEC just beat itself up this year. And that’s with LSU being dragged down by Kelly and OU being terrible (although having a talented roster, at least on defense).

Unfortunate to miss out, but we have 12 teams in the playoffs. The best team is definitely among them.

68 teams make the NCAA basketball tournament and every year you have 4-5 bubble teams bitching that their resume is better and should be in. The number of teams don’t really matter, the handful left out will bitch and complain.
They need to go back to the BCS ranking system and have an 8 team playoff with no conference championship requirement

Why not just get all the schools who are willing to spend money on football and go with that. Similar to the NFL
