If JJR can't beat LSU he sure in the hell can't beat Bama. On that note neither will the grinders ...God that hurt to type that word.

These A&M fans really suck. The threads are horrible. They have brought nothing . . . nothing to the Rant. Jeez, to the SEC for that matter. Can we drop them and get . . . I dunno, Baylor or Texas Tech?

That is sad. I'd rather go to the desert of Lubbock and watch a game than to A&M.

Hate on Aggies all you want but you have no clue if you are bringing this up. Tech fans compete with WVU for the title of "Worst in College football", they love to throw things at you like no one else. They are also incredibly fair weathered. There are lots of Tech season ticket packages for less than $100 and they still can't sell them. Baylor is far worse. They always have a couple games a year where you can get tickets on Stubhub for $1 (which still don't sell). They traveled less than 900 fans to A&M last year to see their Heisman candidate, that' a whopping 90 mile trip.

Lol the aggie fans on this board made me despise that school and state (already despised them from living in Tyler a few years) but they are so delusional. We should of got a North Carolina or florida state, frick a texas school.

State....simply becuase we aren't 100% sure that they are terrible yet.....we are 100% sure that aTm can't do much against a good defense.

IMO- A & M would have the better chance, due to the game following the LSU game.

Msst, I give .01% of pulling the upset this weekend. Bama is extremely focused and playing very, very well on both sides of the ball right now. Msst is undefeated and ranked 12th in the BSC, the Bama team will not have a letdown at home or let msst "sneak up" on them. I expect Msst to give be a test, make us earn the game but we will never really be threatened and will mash them in the 2nd half. 34-9 type game.

A & M has a unique offense and gets us after the LSU game. I think Bama wins the LSU game which could put us in the letdown mode for A & M. If for some reason LSU beats Bama then there is no way A & M will beat us and it would probably pretty ugly raping.

I'm not sure what you've seen that would cause you to believe that a team that loses to LSU will "rape" us. We have lost 2 games against 2 top 5 teams by a total of 8 points.

I agree with the general consensus here that Miss St is going to follow to try to follow the formula that actually has been shown to work against Bama: run the ball to shorten the game, punt and defend and pick you moments wisely for passing and hope to hit some big plays. Then hope your secondary can come up with a key interception or two as you absolutely must win the turnover battle.

I don't trust Texas A&M to shorten the game and not try crazy shite like they did against LSU when they came out hurry up and pass happy with a freshman QB and a minute and change left in the first half from deep in their own territory instead of just taking the lead into the break. That kind of courage isn't usually awarded against defenses like LSU's or Alabama's.

However, I do also agree that catching Bama after LSU is a huge advantage over Miss St.

As far as A&M and Miss State playing each other, I'd pretty much guess that it's close enough that the edge would go to the home team.

Are you serious? I'm pretty objective here and can see that the Utah game was well before Alabama had nearly the type pieces in place they have now.

It was a pretty decent team for sure but nothing like they have now. I may not recall correctly but wasn't that Bama team was about like ND this year: scraping along by the skin of their teeth most of the season?
I think they were lucky to not get upset by the likes of Tulane, Kentucky and Ole Miss. You might as well link those box scores too from that year.

Bama fans may try to paint it differently but that team was a lot closer in quality to their 6-6 team from the year before. They over achieved to get by as long as they did unbeaten.

Also, I recall Alabama having a completely make shift O-line after losing their 2 best players that Utah beat continually --which was the real difference in that game. I recall them adjusting defensively but Utah just kept eating them up with stunts against their O-line.

The teams that have actually shown the ability to beat Alabama since Saban has gotten his recruits there have done it like South Carolina, LSU and Auburn did. Run, Run, Run, punt and change the field. . . shorten the game above all. Hit huge pass plays on very limited attempts. Play conservatively, stop the run and get key turnovers.

Given they've not had a dangerous QB until now but I still think it's the way to go as teams like Arkansas that played hurry up and put up huge numbers against other teams haven't see that work against Bama at all.

The more risky plays you run on offense against Alabama has usually meant the more likely their defensive playmakers turn you over.

They were the number 4 team in the country. It isn't as drastic a different as your skip-bayless type rhetoric claims.

You're just a tad defensive because there's hardly a better point to be made from looking at that Utah game from 4 seasons back as there would be in looking at how UL-Monroe beat them the season before.

That Alabama team was good but to merely say that they were #4 does nothing to argue the fact that they were well below what they've become since Saban has gotten his recruits in.

Are you really arguing that?

I repeat they survived Kentucky 17-14 that season. They needed a punt return to pull away from a Tulane team that was pretty much shutting them down. Both at home. I think I recall that they had a hell of a time putting Ole Miss away.

Well we now know that State wasn't anywhere close to being able to beat Bama.
