Monday Update for LSU
- losing LHP Michael Kennedy
- losing RHP transfer Tebrake, would've been Saturday guy

- Keeping closer Paul Gervase
- Keeping top 25 HS RHP Chase Shores
- looks like we're keeping everyone else from the class. HUGE success by Jay Johnson and probably the best we've done in the draft in the last 10 years.

This might be the most top high school talent to get to 1 college ever honestly ... I dont keep track but it's hard to remember a school getting this much top PG talent to high school in 1 class.

6 Top 65 perfect game signees went undrafted for us:
#19 OF Paxton Kling
#23 RHP Chase Shores
#29 C Brady Neal
#33 RHP Jaden Noot
#47 C Jared Jones
#65 SS Gavin Guidry

The draft went as well as possible for A&M.

No signees, transfers, or potential returning underclassmen were drafted.

Schloss will have them primed for another run.

Impresisve. Serious question, were there any y'all were sweating big time or guys you thought were gone? Or just had the right type of guys coming in who were either not eligible or right on the cusp as 50/50 guys?

Werner (most likely to leave of the current JRs) and LaViolette (top HS signee) were both major risks of going.

Bost (1.023 OPS) was likely to return to develop at 2nd, but he was a risk too.

We had a few others between transfers and high school guys, but none were major risks.

We had a few tiers of guys.

Tier 1: College draft guys that we were positive were gone
- Berry - starting 3B, #6 overall
- Doughty - starting 2B, 2nd round
- Reyzelman - setup guy, 5th round

Tier 2: College draft guys we weren't sure on
- Gervase (staying) - Closer, best pitcher on the staff this past year
- Tebrake (leaving) - would've been friday or saturday RHP
- Pineda (not drafted yet) - likely starting MIF
- Young (not drafted yet) - competing for spot in MIF
- Dugas (not drafted yet) - DH 20+ HR guy
- Jobert (not drafted yet) - DH 20+ HR guy
- Floyd (not drafted yet) - Sunday or midweek starting RHP

I would say at most we lose 2 of those guys tomorrow, and that wouldn't really hamstring the team too much at all.

Tier 3: highschool guys we were sure were gone
- all 5 of them signed

tier 4: highschool guys we weren't sure on
- Only LHP Kennedy left.
As posted above, we kept a MASSIVE haul of top 60ish players that we never did under Maneiri. Excited is an understatement

A lot more analysis coming from @ShooterHunt and others, but two very quick thoughts: @LSUbaseball and @AggieBaseball are loaded for next season. #LSU got several signees on campus + portal, and #Aggies will get every signee back + likely Trevor Werner/Austin Bost/Minnich back.

Looks like Mississippi State has 4 of the PG top 100 srs coming to campus only 1st round 14th overall pick Jett Williams is gone.

State lost RHP Landon Sims 1st
C Logan Tanner 2nd
RHP Preston Johnson 7th
OF Brad Cumbest 9th

Portal transfer OF Bill Knight went in the 10th round and will sign.

LSU specifically had a ton get drafted

While that may or may not be true, the draft has turned out way better than we could have hoped for. We were expecting to lose quite a bit more than we expect now.

Jay Johnson pulled the python out of his pants and dropped it all over the draft and transfer portal.

Just realized Jack Pineda (Baylor INF) is an Lsu transfer. Could be another hit. It's going to be interesting to see just much money teams have left.
