Arkansas was coming off beating number one ranked LSU which was filled with NFL talent. The players heard rumors that Nutt was gone and so McFadden, Jones and Hillis ran all over LSU. McFadden had over 200 yards rushing. McFadden was interviewed shortly after the game that did you do this for your coach? Nutt and McFadden hugged on TV. It was cringe as hell but it answered that question.
The rumors ended up being true and Nutt took the Ole Miss job. After that the care dwindled to nothing and many went to social media to say how upset they were of Nutt getting fired. So do you expect not to have a negative impact going forward?

Finally, something to comment about. Pinkel was a helluva coach. It's a shame for Mizzou that he had to step away for health reasons. I don't think he would have ever fielded a team as good as the Georgia team last year, but he would have kept Mizzou in the hunt for the East title most seasons.

The whole team was still angry that Nutt was fired except for Peyton Hillis. How can you explain Arkansas beating top ranked LSU in Baton Rouge in a sold out hostile crowd? Then go into the bowl and play the exact opposite?

That cotton bowl was way back in what 2007? It’s a bowl game we had players arrive on their own and no coach.
I said since you’ve been in the SEC you’ve beaten us bad once. Last years game was a beat down and you know it. *this is the most important piece right now because it was year two of your current coach and you went backwards. No excuse for that with the portal. He once again didn’t get a QB in the portal
You scored a TD with like two minutes left in the game and us in prevent. First time you got in the Endzone all day.
This year won’t be any better for you.
Again congrats on your history. Right now your program is bad. 6 wins would be an amazing year for you and you have a easy schedule

Not disagreeing but we were a dumpster fire, and he pulled us out of it and had some decent years. He's a jackass and a complete moron, but he can rebuild a program.

It was a dumpster by reputation but Nutt inherited talent from Ford that was good enough to win the SEC in 98 and 98. Just like he did with Ole miss in 08 and 09 but didn't take advantage of a good situation. Then he botched the 2000 recruiting class which in 01 he panicked and took off redshirts when he failed to recruit players once Ford's players were gone.
He needed two generational players in Jones and McFadden. Had those two players got hurt for any significant length of time then Nutt would be fired sooner. Once McFadden was going to the NFL, Nutt knew that he no longer had a single player just as good that would save his job in 08.
Nutt has never built a program in his life. He left Arkansas in worse shape than he found it. Nutt did the same at Ole Miss but didn't have the luxury of a Jones or a McFadden then you have a fan base that wouldn't have a high tolerance for his shenanigans. Thus his stay was short.

the Whys are nothing but excuses, whether they are correct or not. we lost more to them, than them us. When they lost to us, they were depleted, bad coaching, and injured.

I don't hate a person. Dislike? Yes. Nutt is an idiot that is mentally challenged and made millions off people dumber than him. He couldn't help he was born that way. So he had to compensate for his lack of qualifications for the Arkansas job. Lies and a salesman pitch got him over more qualified candidates. Those qualities are the only things he had. The game was over his head and he needed two players and major backing from money that kept his job longer than he should have. Do you think he would last long at other SEC schools? Absolutely not. No school would tolerate going 7-5 and have your phone FOI that reveals an inappropriate relationship with a news anchor. That is trashy and embarrassing for a state employee but by all means should have been canned. As a state employee he should have represented Arkansas will class and integrity but did the opposite.
