Think that has anything to do with Mizzou's old man D?
Dude, I've gave props to Shaw. Even before this game. He's badass. Partner that with a coach like Spurrier and it's a force to overcome. You guys executed plays extremely well. You have great players.
But when your defense is forced to play a majority of the game, it's doomed to fail. I think Oldman D himself had a decent game really.

Last time I checked, conventional offenses get hammered from time to time also.
Folks, this aint rocket science. It comes down to who wants to go out an punch somebody in the mouth. It's that simple. So far there are only two or three Mizzou players, maybe four that are willing to do this and have done it in every game. Those players are Moe, Lucas, Lawrence and Berkstresser.
Moe don't put up big numbers, but he will smash you in the mouth. Same with Lucas. Lucas appears to have a nasty streak showing. This is what needs to be instilled in the entire roster. This is part of the coaches job. If Franklin doesn't snap out of his funk, they really need to start looking to Berkstresser.
Real well said.
I'd add Ebner to that list too. Sheldon has played well too, he has been mr. nice guy though.. which isn't a terrible thing if you play tough. I think he is trying to help his reputation some after the old man football comment.

I'd agree, but we both know this isn't on the defense.
This is about offensive attitude. They have no emotion on the line and Franklin acts like he's on a Saturday picnic with his grandma. He looks like he's throwing to a 4 year old kid. He's running like he's avoiding contact. This conference is about contact, it's about going out and hitting somebody.
Now, after the injury and refusal to take a shot to play last week, and his abscence from that game because of this, if I'm a defensive player, I'm gonna crack this kid every chance I get. It just add's fuel to the fire. Franklin needs to man up and lead his offense...period. If he can't, there's a nice cushy bench wait'n on him. He's showed he can execute this offense. I still think he can at a high level. But it's up to him to decide who he wants to be. A hero or a zero.

The truth of the matter is that no team truly understands the SEC grind until they live it. The Big12 is a joke. Overrated teams like OU and UT every year and no defense played at all in that league. It's not suprising that the new members are 0-3 combined in SEC play so far. Be prepared for another 2-4 years of this before you can recruit the right type of players and adjust your coaching philosophy to this league.
Look how long it took Arky and USCe to become relevant in this league. Even still, neither of them has ever won the conference and it's been 20 years. Are you prepared for that? This is a long-haul transition and the chatter about Mizzou contending for the SEC East in year one was a joke.
Not only that, Mizzou and TAMU entered the SEC with opposite attitudes. TAMU was very respectful, talked about how great it was to now be playing in the best league, etc, etc. Mizzou came in with a cocky attitutde with snide comments and believed they were an SEC quality team. After two blow-outs, it pleases me to say...welcome to the SEC boys!!!

Franklin admits being scared:
Quarterback James Franklin even admitted so much after the game, saying he either pulled up, ducked or threw the ball away too quickly because after a while he just expected a Carolina defender to knock him into next week.
I got the feeling he's still hurting. His approach to each plays seems a lot different than other games from last year. Maybe he is scared of SEC Defenses. Maybe they are hitting a lot harder. But you can tell something is wrong.

The speed is a lot different. Plus lets say it seems like the good SEC teams are made up of certain type of players compared to Mizzou's team. Mizzou better recruit some more brothas or something.

Mizzou will hold their own against the middle pack SEC teams.

hmm noticed you kinda left the Vandy having you by the balls until the end.... and again 41 points is more than 31 but never mind... its that math thing I know its tough for ya.. Crow in a cpl weeks if ya can..
Posted on 9/23/12 at 8:57 pm to bdv1974
One of the announcers of that game made a great point that it is more difficult for spread teams to adjust to two tight ends when they need to run the ball than vice versa. Missouri will evolve to meet the physical demands of the SEC but it will be a tough couple years.

How does the math do for the points given up by each defense?

I've lost a good deal of respect for the so called smartest fans in football. Mizzou hasn't done anything but give these surface level thinkers anything but fuel for the fire, so hard to complain.. what else should I expect.
Guys wanted so badly to be able to swing their dicks around and tell us we're not big enough or physical enough. That isn't our problem at all. The type of players we recruit isn't the problem either. There isn't just one problem, there has been a lot. But physicality isn't really one of them. And our defense isn't either. Got beat by 2 top 10 teams and people want to come swing there dicks around, gotta love it.
The football has lived up to the reputation. The atmosphere at the games have too.. but the knowledge of the fans about football has really fallen short for me. Seems to me like we have a lot of guys that live vicariously through these teams but just regurgitate talking points because they don't know what else to say.

WTF, the USCe players were stronger, faster, etc. Seemed like they were playing a B1G team on Saturday. Complete mismatch. UGA wore down Mizzou in the 4th, again players are more physical, have more endurance, etc.

You're a typical, ignorant Big12 fan. Don't worry, the next decade will be very educational for you. I love how guys like you come on here and don't like our analysis of your weak team, and try to discount our football knowledge. We've forgotten more about the game than you know.
The bottom line is we told you this would happen. Now that it has happened exactly like we told you it would, with much protest from Mizzou fans, you want to come on here and make excuses for why you truly are an SEC level team. The bottom line is you are too small, too weak, too slow, you don't have enough depth, you haven't recruited the right type of players and your offensive system sucks and won't work in the league. We told you all of that, but you didn't believe it and now that you're witnessing it with your own two eyes you want to make excuses about injuries, your OC, your QB, etc, etc. We do understand football, and we called this a mile away. And BTW, injuries are an annual part of the game in the SEC. It happens to all teams, and you don't get to make excuses when they happen. That's why you recruit great depth. You need 2-3 deep at each position of SEC level players. You don't even have 1 SEC level player at each position, and it will take you years to get there. Go ask the Hog and Cock fans if you don't believe me. Truth. Now take your ignorant, excuse making, Big12 loving, 0-2 self out of this discussion before you look more stupid than you currently do.

Franklin scared doesn't surprise me because it is obvious he is playing scared. Like I've stated in recent posts, its time to give Berk the ball and see what he can do. This is the SEC and the last thing we need is a scared arse QB trying to lead our team.
It's also apparent to me that our style of flex offense isn't going to work in this conference. We need to return to a more conventional, pro style offense with TE's and maybe a fullback. We can't do this overnight of course, but we need to start to formulate a plan pronto, and atleast adapt the best we can for the remainder of the season.
I never liked the flex but it was fun to watch and was successful with Chase running it. Those days are long gone. We have to adapt or continually get our shite kicked in by the better SEC teams.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Just a dick swinger, that's all you are.
What your miserable mind fails to accept is we are seeing the dominoes fall bc of what happened to our o-line. We had the depth there, but lost half of them in pre season, and then lost our best in the first game. We had the depth recruited but got shite luck in pre season.
To say we don't have one SEC level player at each position shows you are just a dick swinger. Marcus Lucas would be loved on any SEC team. Will Ebner. Sheldon Richardson. Kony Ealy. All would be welcomed on any team and would start.

This Mizzou fan gets it. Many forget Urban got slapped around his first year at UF and lost like 5 games. He then adjusted his offense big time by bringing in the power element and a big strong OL. You adjust in this league to our style of play, or we will eat you alive. The quetion for me is if Pinkel will do it. So far, at least publicly, he seems pretty resistant to the idea of changing his philosophy of offense, recruiting, etc. He will either change, or he will be fired within 2-3 years after several bad seasons in the SEC. If he adapts and begins the process of recruiting the right type of players, and he brings in more pro-style elemets to his offense, Mizzou could be a player in the East within a few years. That's a big if at this point.

I hate to break this to you...but even if you hadn't had ANY injuries to your OL this year, you would still be 0-2. You didn't have some top 5 OL in the nation even when they were all healthy. And like I just mentioned, injuries pile up in this league for EVERYONE. You don't get to bitch and whine about it like you currently are...you just make sure you have the depth and talent to overcome those injuries.
Secondly, I never said Mizzou doesn't have any SEC level players at all. Just said you don't have 1 at EVERY position yet, much less the 2-3 needed at each position to be a major threat in this league. You can argue this with me all you want, but your league record the next few years will bear this out.

Do you think the fact that he was taking over a team with 5 losses the previous 2 years had anything to do with it.. even a little?

Its a good thing I wasn't arguing we wouldn't be 0-2 with a healthy line. Thanks though..
And to talk about size.. Our o-line was actually bigger than theirs this weekend.. we don't have one position where the player is too small for the league. So your talk about us being too small is just really low low level casual fan speak. It has nothing to do with our problems. But you love swinging that big ole sec dick around like our guys are too weak and small when that's not the problem.
What position do we not have an SEC caliber player starting? Please lets hear that one. Or do you mean we don't have a full team of #1's that would start at Bama and LSU. I think you're mistaking the elite teams for the entire SEC.
