I believe that Christianity has been skewed over time and that the Bible has been revised to appease those in power.

Which is why I no longer believe the divine message of the book, because it is so prone to error, conradictions and other things a divine book should be immune from.

I love the bible, it's a great book. But even when I believed all of it I thought this "look up a scripture and pick my life choices solely based on that" was misguided. The fact is there are three verses in the bible that directly or indirectly condemn homosexuality and two of them are mistranslations from the original Hebrew and Greek. Only one verse in the whole bible actually talks about people laying with the same sex.

Agreed, if someone is only talking about gay sex that are a hypocrite. It's why I always use the gluttony analogy, when was the last time a pastor did a service on gluttony? They don't because they'd directly offend half the congregation.

If you are confronting homosexuals about their homosexuality, you cant shy away from doing the same to adulterers, fornicators, etc.

To further my point, here is a video from Penn Jillette (famous atheist, magician and personal favorite of mine) talking about why he doesn't mind people evangelizing and telling people about sin:

Meh, I don't see the point in confronting anyone over their iniquities when I have shite of my own to work on.

Don't agree with their actions, but I don't stand in condemnation of them any more than anyone else.

The opposite problem, and the one more posters seem to have encountered, are churches/Christians that place such a strong importance on the texts declaring homosexuality as sin that they elevate it above other sins and relate to gay people like a self-righteous pharisee.

Is this the case, or is it that homosexuality is pushed as a more accepting lifestyle towards individuals that it is simply a more talked about sin now?

Agreed.

Probably why Jesus said leave the judging to him and to get busy loving and serving one another.

I agree, I personally was never a person to do that about anything unless specifically asked.

Thanks for the link. Never seen that before. I'm still anti-proselytizing, personally, but I can understand his thinking. I'm more the smile and back away slowly while nodding "anti" than the screaming, swearing and stabbing "anti", though.
