We’ve had grass before, it didn’t take. I don’t remember the exact reason

I’m with ya on the track though. It’s time to remove that shite. We’ve had two opponents fall on it already this season. I don’t want to see anyone get hurt.

There are plenty of northern stadiums that have a natural surface. And the drainage issue is a red herring. Either way, you got to pump water out.

It kind of just depends on how lucky and patient the teams are

Ohio State got rid of the grass in 2007 because the previous year they had to completely replace the field 3 times during the season because of weather

If it wasnt a bad year that one year they might still have grass

What do you mean, “won’t work”? High schools in Texas have better facilities.

Due to the location, turf grasses suffer from severe root fungus. We tried many times and even when the grass was cut higher the roots could never stay healthy. It came up in huge chunks.

I blame the emphasis on safe spaces, Columbia just lets fungus fester

Every single post here has a point.

I'm a life-long Tiger fan, a Mizzou alum, and had season tickets a few years...

Our stadium is odd, it does look fake, and I do not like it. But, we have tried to grow grass multiple times, doesn't work

We just upgraded the stadium...it is going to be there a while.

Sorry, that money has already been sent to protesters.

Sniff, sniff, is there something on the cook surface ?

Something might still be slowly melting.

The field won’t drain. It sits in an old limestone quarry. Too much standing water and grass just won’t grow. Cardinals and Chiefs ground crews consulted and tried. It just won’t work in that location. They’d have to tear it all apart, and even then it’s on rock so grass would be a problem.

Waddle almost got hurt on that slick track. After making a TD, slipped and fell Video at about the 35 second mark.

They've invented these things called pumps, you know.

It isn't a drainage issue. It is a humidity and air flow issue. It would require a lot of fans and air conditioning to keep fungus pressure down.

I love all these landscape engineers we have on the board!

It’s been said multiple times that grass has been tried multiple times and it’s not feasible. You don’t think they’ve tried everything? Field turf is fricking expensive and must be replaced regularly.

Speaking of jacked up stadiums...why does Kyle Field have That hard Sandpaper non skid surface so close to the playing field. During the Florida game I saw at least four players fall onto that abrasive section by the sidelines and emerge bloodied. Someone is going to get hurt badly.
