Most of the people that bag on Missouri haven't even been to Missouri, and the ones who have been to Missouri went to St. Louis or Kansas City. If they went South of I-70 I am confident they'd view the state differently
I’m probably a little biased but the KC area is pretty good place to live. The suburbs are really nice and the core of downtown KC is becoming a decent place to hang for a weekend…..shite load of breweries and a few distilleries in that core downtown footprint…it’s not a bad place to kick it for a couple of days.

And Missouri had the 3rd most battles plus continual guerilla war throughout the war.
Most Americans don’t know the real war began in 1856 out in Missouri and Kansas…history shows Fort Sumter April 1861 as the official beginning of the Civil War but it had been raging in all its brutality years before. Many of people living in Missouri in the 1850’s came from TN, KY, the Carolina’s and the upper South to settle in the fertile lands of the Mississippi and Missouri River valley regions….they had their own culture and most did not own slaves but they had southern roots. They were forced to choose a side and in the beginning the state went with the Confederacy but shortly thereafter the Union flooded the state with Union troops because the Union understood the strategic importance of controlling the western edge of US civilization for the Union. There are still Confederate cemeteries in Missouri that will probably be desecrated and destroyed at some point.

The state never went Confederate. The Neosho succession done by Claiborne Fox Jackson did not have a legitimate Quorum. Missouri was truly a split state. About a 3rd we’re each pro-Union, Confederate and leave me the hell out of it.

I'm from St. Louis. I prefer the KC metro area.
My son is finishing his junior year and I've been telling him to consider job opportunities in KC.

Yeah, my family was awarded land in Tennessee after the Revolutionary War. The branch of the tree I'm on migrated to Missouri.

A true "Southeastern" conference would exclude Arkansas, Missouri, OU, Texas, and A&M.
So... You're agreeing with us now?

I’m talking about the majority of the citizenry in Missouri, not a state government that was strong armed by the Union and federal troops.

Is there a more desperate fan to be in the SEC than this frickstick?

You know, I think this thread proves Missouri belongs in the SEC because 11 years in and 23 years into a new millennium y'all are still debating the dagnabbit War Between The States.
I live in Oregon where we can't even use the phrase "Civil War" anymore for fear of triggering the fragile psyches of the athletes at our local Power 5 programs.
I don't even care anymore. I'm old and jaded.
Congrats to Mizzou on hanging around long enough to be reunited with Oklahoma and Baja Oklahoma.

SEC folks are just like Big 8 and SWC folks that would prefer none of it have changed 30+ years ago.

After seeing you get prostituted by the worst team in our conference, I think we’re fine over here.

Missouri belongs in the Missouri Valley conference.

It's been amusing seeing the Big XII slowly but surely bring on board most of the old SWC teams they left in the dust and now the Pac 12 has gone from coveting Texas & Oklahoma to eyeing SMU, one of those discarded SWC teams, as their big prize.
I wish it hadn't changed but the era of the superconference is upon us and a 12 team CFP is just the beginning. It won't stop at 12 just as it didn't stop at 2 or 4. Totally new world now. Best buckle up.

Then you would have a losing record in football to a school in the MVC.
