They still have a confederate battle flag on their state flag and are bothered with the optics of an old man with a cane. If they're going to change mascots, why not pick something representative of the state. The MS State land mammal is the red fox. It would be unique and make sense. But why not go with a gimmicky football fad that's been around for about 10 years.
